magicjack as a fax machine on same laptop

Post by just4fn »

For those that don't know. I have tried using the magicjack and my laptop to fax and it works fine. What I mean is I have the mj connected to my laptop and I connect the mj to the modem of the same laptop. When it dials, I think it dials too fast as the mj software doesn't reconize the number input. I have to dial the number 1st on the mj software then send the fax. It has worked every time.

Commas, when inserted in the phone number to be dialed, act as pauses...

I tried that and it does pause but the mj software isn't picking up all the characters. I tried commas between all of the numbers and it still missed them

Thanks good to know the trick about dialing on the MJ softphone. Have you tried dialing your destination fax number with a 1 in front (11 digit dialing). I have to do that sometimes with voice calls as MJ doesn't always pickup all my phone key presses, but with the 1 added, MJ seems to respond better.
