Post by almostageek »

I have installed an nlited version of xp pro sp2 on my t5730. My question is where do I find the drivers for ethernet controller, pci device, sm bus controller, and video controller.

The easiest way to do this is to copy the system32 subdirectory (under windows) to a USB drive and THEN install full XP. Then open Device Manager, find those items that didn't install correctly, choose Update Drive, Let me Pick, then click on Have Disk and go to browse. Browse to the USB drive and point to the system32 directory. Windows will will search for the correct drivers, copy them over and then install them.

Make sure you are setup to view hidden folders. Then select the option to manually choose the driver. Browse to the system32/inf folder and you should find the drivers inf file there. You may have to tell it where the dll, sys or drv file is after that which would be in the system32 root directory. I did the same thing a while back on my 5700 and 5710.

On my 5720, I ended up locating the drivers in various places online.

Thanks for the info I found the drivers in the hidden INF folder under the system32 folder. All is well.
