**WARNING** Although I don't see this causing any damage, I take no responsibility for anything this may do to your system. Use at your own risk and please make a backup before running.

Description
I decided to incorporate several of the apps I have written into an easy to use GUI. It includes the SIP Info checker, MJ Upgrader, and some other nice features.

Regarding the SIP Info checker, it will pull your SIP credentials from your MagicJack. This is purely for educational purposes and should NOT be used to circumvent your MJ hardware. This is against their TOS and should not be done.

Download
Stroths MagicJack Utilities Suite v1.6

Here is the previous version just in case the latest version (above) doesn't work for you or you just like this version.
Stroths MagicJack Utilities Suite v1.5

v1.6 Torrent (compliments of Poo619)

Image - Image - Image

Instructions

1. Unzip the folder and put it where ever you like on your system.

2. Once done, you can run MagicJackSuite.exe and go from there.

3. Update the config from the GUI

4. (Optional) - Create a shortcut to MagicJackSuite.exe on your desktop. This will make it easier to run in the future.

Bugs
Not really sure if its a bug or not, but sometimes you have to run the SIP Checker app more than once to get the SIP data. It really has to do with the timing of pulling the SIP data when magicjack starts. Since different systems run this at different speeds, its hard to determine a time value that works across the board.
See version 1.5 update as there was a bug in some versions before it.

Changelog

1.6
-Added "MySIPInfoLocation" variable to Optional section of the config file. You can select where you want to save your MySIPinfo.txt now.
-Added mouseover tooltips to each of the buttons on the main interface.
-Added ability to add a startup entry for MagicJack that bypasses the usual MJ splash screen. (suggested by jamesgray)

1.5
- Added "Optional" section in config for future options
- Added MJUpgradeURL to Optional config section. Allows you to put in a different URL if you want to download a different upgrade.exe file
- Fixed a possible bug causing a bluescreen on one of my test environments. Appears to be from some code I introduced on v1.2 and continued through v1.41. Might have just been my system, but upgrade just to be safe.

1.4.1
- Added Configuration with GUI interface to make the suite easier to setup.
- Fixed a bug in the GUI where it would not read the values from the config file after changing them in the GUI. Caused it to run with old values until you would exit and restart it. Issue now corrected.
- Optimized some code

1.3
- Changed startup registry entry remover to check if key exists and report back if not there

1.2
- Added Proxy Name and IP to SIP Info per request

1.1
- Added taskkill binary missing by some builds of windows

1.0
- Initial Release

Stroths MJ Utilities Suite 1.6 -SIP Grabber, Upgrader +

Post by anant »

My hearty congratulations to Stroth for developing and integrating MJ utilities suite 1.6. I had a chance of using the sw. It is just fantastic, user-friendly , well-thought out, and very easy to use. Just 3 parameters to update in the config file and in 2-3 attempts it spit out SIP data which used to take hours earlier. I had to change the delay parameter from 2 secs to 4 secs. It worked for me. The config file is well documented for multiple uses.

I noticed on anomaly and it is not the fault of the sw. One of the parameters displayed is: proxy01.xxxxxxxx,talk4free.com This does not appear to be correct. It did not workusing that parameter.. I had to get back to the old way i.e proxy1.xxxxxxx.talk4free.com:5070. ( with no 0 between proxy and 1 ; and adding in the end a :5070 ). It worked. . I established this after multiple trials. This is just for the benefit of the board.

Hey all,

I'm new here but have been trying to get my MJ Sipinfo for quite sometime. I'm clearly doing something wrong.

I'm running Vista Home Premium x32. Taskkill.exe is in my Sys32 folder. I run MJsuite 1.6 and when I try getting current SIPinfo it gives me the following error: "Invalid MJFLashDriveletter in Config.ini or MJ not plugged in. Correct and try again"

I plug in the MJ then start up the suite and thats it - cant get my info. Any ideas? Thanks

Exactly what it says...change the letter in the config file so that it is the right one for the MJ letter on your system.

I changed the drive letter to G, since thats what MJ comes up as - now it says "Invalid Path3 in Config.ini Please correct and try again"

Sorry for the Noobness, I'm sure it's something dumb I'm not doing..

Read the entire config file.

You will find Path3 listed there, too. Just put in EXACTLY what it says to (just read the examples for each OS and do the one that matched your Windows version.

TADA!

I let my GF borrow my MJ since I didnt use it much at home. But now that I have it in my pocket on my Iphone - is there any problem if we both happened to use it at the same time? LIke her from her pc and me on my Iphone out and about? Seriously, thank you all for listening to my issues.

As has been pointed out many times, multiple registration of MJ number could lead to cancellation of your service.

Thanks Stroths. This worked for me after 2 tries. Doing the upgrade first and setting Path 3 seemed to be the key.

I tried it first thinking I was running MJ as a service, but I was really just running it without the dongle, so once that was sorted out, it was smooth sailing.

I don't think I could have found the SIP credentials using other methods. They looked too complicated for my skill level. This was easy and provides me with some other useful utilities.

Now back to fighting my AC-211N-SR and tweaking the configuration so it will actually work after entering the SIP info. I think I am getting closer.

Haven't been back to this thread lately, but I see that you all have been busy. Just from the rapidshare links, there have been over 2000 downloads so far.

Make sure you read through the thread to make sure you question hasn't already been answered. Pretty much any question about this suite has been answered throughout the thread. Mostly its either a path or timing issue which have been covered quite a few times either by me or other helpful forum users.

Check back in the thread for some things to try. Adjust your timing per the notes. Also restart MJ and try to catch it when the progress bar is about 3/4 of the way across. Good luck.

I had the same issue - looks like there is a small window within which one can read the SIP data from the device - read the earlier post - it is sometime when the bars are about 2/3 of its way (bars) when the device is being initialized.

After going to the http://phoneservicesupport.com/magic-ja ... t1364.html page specified in the config file, I was overwhelmed by the complexity of the service setup there. The only reason I could find for setting up the service was because it would stop MJ from "needlessly installing itself in every damn user!" That's was not a compelling reason for me to attempt that process.

Far worse was the discovery that Stroths MagicJack Utilities Suite was not compatible with either my magicJack or my Vista Home Premium SP2 system. I got several BSODs during the SIP discovery process.

After carefully setting up my config file, I ran upgrade.exe, then VersionChecker.exe. Those went well, but I got the first BSOD when MagicJackSuite.exe was starting the MJ dialpad interface during the SIP discovery. I used System Restore in Safe Mode to get my system back.

I next tried the SIP discovery process without using upgrade.exe and VersionChecker.exe. I got the "SIP not found" message window after setting the StartDelay variable to 0, 2, and 3.8, but neither worked. Three times I also tried pressing the SIP discovery button when the MJ interface went to the 3/4 mark, and it was on the last of those that I got a BSOD.

I restarted my system and almost immediately got another BSOD. I unhooked MJ from my system and turned off my computer for an hour. My system had no BSODs after turning it back on without the MJ. I restarted my system again with MJ inserted, then I quickly deleted the two TigerJet entries in Device Manager (before another possible BSOD) and rebooted. No more BSODs after that, but I'm done with Stroths utility and done with fiddling with my magicjack altogether.

MagicJack Utilities Suite reported incorrect SIP info

Post by willietech »

Nice job on putting together the user interface and concept. I have had problems with caller waiting and as such needed to troubleshoot the problem. Turns out that the tampa.talk4free.com SIP/RTP server was causing me the problem. Tampa server was blocked by my firewall causing MagicJack to go to the next server in the routing list. PMDUMP utility is used to capture the MJ sofware in memory and you can search for the SIP and RTP currently in use. You can also find the "routing table" as well. The Magicjack Utility v1.6 reported (Display existing SIP information) as 67.90.16.6 (Tampa ) however that port is blocked by the firewall and searching the MJ memory dump shows that 67.90.16.6 is the first one in the routing table , however my MJ was actually connected to : o=67.88.10.198 c=67.88.10.207 Cleveland because it was forced to go to the second server due to Tampa being blocked. Suggest that you do some more testing of that routine !!!
Again, thanks for a great work in progress

I'm also having trouble... Is there another program or method for acquiring the SIP login and password?

I've tried to adjust the config.ini file for my non-service mjusb folder (and actually MY folder is mjusbsp for some reason), but I still can't seem to get the SIP info. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the quick reply. Sadly that doesn't seem to work for me either. No matter how I dink with the config.ini file to recognize the MJ dongle on E: and set the non-service path 3 to the mjusb (actually "mjusbsp" on mine) folder, the stroths program still can't see the dongle on E: ... A related issue is that stroths won't launch the MJ program for the same reason, I suppose, although it will quit the MJ program when already running.

SIP Parameters problem

Post by anant »

Hi Folks:
In the morn password was changed on me. Later on in the day I noticed 3 items under UDP ports showed ERROR and no pw change again. . None of the ATAs registered. No such problem with Gizmo. I set up MJ (dongle) for out calls and Gizmo for Incoming calls. Both free. Of course I have OOMA for the family so that they are not on my back with the outages and instability on MJ.

Ok, I found an older program (also written by stroths I believe) at magicjackhacks.com that allowed me to get my MJ password. Click the "sip password finder" at this link:

http://magicjackhacks.com/index.php/dow ... ainmenu-50

And I'm up! I'll post this to the other thread on this board where a related discussion was occurring.

I used pmdump.exe (a public domain memory dump program) to dump the memory contents of the "magicjack" process. Then I used Hex Workshop v3.11 (a shareware hex editor found at www.bpsoft.com/downloads/) to search the ASCII text corresponding with the hex dump to identify the proxy -- which was an IP address with :5070 following it, i.e. 67.xx.xxx.70:5070 ... Hope this proves useful somehow.

Ok, somehow I've been able to use the version 1.6 while at the same time running the sipusername app from magicjackhacks.com, and stroths app was able to work, and yes indeed my password had changed and also the user agent changed from 466c to 484a. I've also changed the hostname in the system to "magicjack" and the domain in the same page, system to "talk4free.com", and will post update if phone is still working tomorrow morning. Thx!

Problem with MJ running on ATAs

Post by anant »

Hi Folks:
I have obtained new SIP parameters which have a change in user agent MagicJack/1.80.484a (SJ Labs) and no change in pw since my last run in last evening. Last run I had ERROR under UDP Ports. This time no Errors I have valid numbers. This report looks normal.
But My ATAs Innomedia and PAP2 have not registered. There should be some other problem which is beyond me. Can someone confirm that the ATAs are running? I have to resort to have MJ phone with MJ dongle plugged.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Did anyone notice this?

Code: Select all

http://reg.talk4free.com/register.html
I'm wondering if the theory about MJ dongle doing an HTTP register using your MJ dongle serial number prior to registering with SIP is correct? If so, we could probably capture the HTTP registration process and create a service that would register you on a regular basis. At least that would allow ATA use vs. the dongle (though you would still need to have a PC running to host the service).

Thoughts?

[EDIT] Even better idea - we could build the service into DD-WRT router firmware so your router could register you on a regular basis (no PC required!) ;)

Still Down Linksys PAP2N

Post by ramjet555 »

I ran slouths, it shows the new MagicJack/1.80.484a (SJ Labs)
however I can see NO other changes, my password / user name is the same.

Has anyone got it working and could you please send me the screen shots of the settings you used.

It still works fine though the usb but, we all hate that.

Thanks
