I'm sure it would be possible to control the soft phone's menus by using the real phones handset; it would make using a cordless phone so much nicer.

what are you talking about? are you saying that you can not dial out from your phone or something like that? unless you found a cordless rotary phone any push button phone will work without the dial pad on the computer screen

I can dial out fine, but what I am suggesting is that it would be nice to be able to control other menu functions from the handset of a cordless phone instead of having to use the mouse also.

Okay, maybe by initially pushing the # button, you enter into your contacts list and by pushing the 7 button you go down the list of contacts... then by pushing the * button you would select a contact to call.

But how would you know which one you were on unless you memorized that john is the 3rd one down and bill is the 5th one down, etc.

You would be able to see the soft phone on your computer screen and go down the numbered list to the person you wanted to call and maybe by pressing the asterisk it would select them.

An alternative, instead of operating the softphone, consider storing the numbers in the memory of the corded or cordless phone. Even our least expensive phone in the house ($14) has memory. If your phone is cordless, then you can do what you want from anywhere in the house and you don't need to be able to see the softphone, nor for that matter have the monitor turned on. Just scroll through the numbers in your address book on the phone then press dial.

yea its a nice concept but the # and * buttons are used sometimes during IVR calls (like your auntomated teller for your bank or when you leave someon a voice mail "push pound to send")
what you need is a special magic jack phone with a voice mail indicator light!!! lol

Keypad control

It's been a couple of years since this suggestion but, by experimenting I was able to deactivate call forwarding by pressing *73#
No, if I want to activate *72# and the number will not work It will put a strange number. Well there you have it. Start experimenting with possible features and post here.! :D [/b]
