Who is moving on, sense ATAs for the most part, are a NO GO?

I am looking for a new SIP provider. I have been using MagicJack for almost a year, and today my account will expire. $20 a year can not be beat, but I doubt I will find a price around that, so I will be paying more.

The cheapest I have seen, that has a number for my area is https://www.future-nine.com . For $7 a month you get a free local number, 250min outgoing, and 3000min incoming. This should be ok for my needs, as I receive more calls then I make.

What providers are other members looking to move too?

I'll stick with MJ even if we can't find a solution. For those of us who run our own "home datacenters", there's always a Plan B.

Assuming you don't need LNP and low usage, there are several cheap options(just for incoming calls, for outgoing, I would go F9 or voip.ms)

Free unlimited incoming to SIP device, but phone# are not available in all area

$0.99/mo and then 0.01/min for incoming minutes.

Gizmo + Google Voice + ATA = unlimited incoming. I used to be able to call out for free using the gizmo to GV * pin 2 forwarding setup from phone but google voice killed that little setup last month lol. ill have to turn on computer and call out from google voice for free outgoing calls now which is still not bad at all because ill have to turn on computer to use magicjack for incoming and outgoing. i could use the phone to call out but ill have to pay gizmo 2 cents a minute. if i need to save minutes on my t-mobile ill just call my google voice number which is part of my favorite five and then call out from there to any number for free

not entirely giving up on the combined brain power here to be able to unravel the ATA mystery.
but in the meantime, I just bought my first $25 credit from voip.ms .0105/minute to US, as low as .0049 to Canada. Billed in 6 second increments, which is way better than I've seen anywhere else and should turn 1000 minutes into like 400 with the larger number of short calls I make. Plus, you can register it as many places as you like, ie pbxes, to dial out with any caller id you like from any location or mobile (Yep, you can set your CID to anything you like, no questions asked-and have diff caller ids for diff places registered).
I'm using Sipgate inbound(GV forwarding to) and Voip.ms out. Should be like a 5 dollar phone bill with free inbound from Sipgate. The sound has been really great too.
Still, I miss the MJ. Felt like I was in a secret club.

What about betamax providers like 12voip, nonoh, or voipdiscount. Are they worth using for their so called 'Freedays' (not really free) but you get about 300 minutes/week for a period of 90 days for 15$ us. So that's about 300x4x3=3600 minutes for $15 us or 0.5cents per minute. You can call Canada and some other countries free too. However, you can never exceed 300 minutes in any 7 day period.

Is this worth it or is it better to go with something like voip.ms?

There is no inbound DID for betamax, but $5/mo for 1200 minutes outgoing isn't bad at all. It all depends on your usage. I currently settled on sipgate for my inbound calls since I got a local# from them. The voice quality is acceptable, reliability needs to be tested but at least, it wouldn't be worse than MJ.
