OOOOps, When I change out the 256Meg memory for a 512....

Post by jimisbell »

Do I have to start all over in the setup? I thought I would just change it out and it would reboot. It didnt. I get a uniformly gray screen right after the white line at the bottom counts down to the right.

Or is there something wrong with the memory I bought???

Which memory are you replacing - the ram or the flash?

I had the same problem, right type of RAM but the TC wouldn't boot. The TC's are finiky with RAM. Do a search of this forum and see what suppliers that other TC users recommend for compatible RAM.

I bought from memory.com and they looked up the RAM I needed in their system. But it wouldn't work. However the Flash memory worked fine. So I have a 512 Flash and 256 RAM machine.

This source was recommended by someone that had used their memory and the source itself communicated with me by email stating that is was absolutely the right stuff!!! What a crock. Was your problem exactly like mine....booting to the white line along the bottom stepping down that and then going blank???

Check the HP web site for the specs for your thin client to learn what is the correct RAM to use.

I believe this is the correct one since all the numbers/specs are the same for it as are on the 256MB module. Only difference is the size...256 vs 512 But the seller offers a lifetime warranty so its no real big deal. He will work it out and he is in Atlanta just a stones throw from me in TX and my daughter works in Atlanta so I can send her and her goons to break his legs if need be...#8-)

They can be VERY finicky with RAM ... especially T5710's when going to 1GB RAM (yeah, not in the HP spec, but works).

The vendor replaced it and the replacement is working fine.
