bought a HP TC 5720, but can not load magic jack and others

Post by fuguansun »

Hi, All:

I need emergency help. I bidded a HP TC t5720 AMD NX1000 1GB/512 WITH following specifications:

Processor speed 1000MHz, amount of flash memory: 1025MB, Memory Size: 496MB System ROM: 786A1 V1.03.

The TC starts great, and when I try to click add/remove program, it said this function is restricted, and I can not right click start or others.

Then I tried to plug into my Magic jack, it shows Window add hardware screen, then finanlly it said cannot install the hardware.

WHat I can do now?

Thanks in advance

You need to log in as the administrator in order to install the MJ.
First log off while holding down the left shift key until the windows login appears. Then log on as
Login: Administrator
Password: Administrator
Once logged in you should disable write protection on the DOM. You do this by clicking on the green lock icon that's located on the task bar near the system clock after that you should be able to install your MJ.

did you use capital "A" and not "a"?

If someone changed the password and the unit has not been reflashed you will have to reflash it. Ask the person you bought it from if they know.

With A upper case I logged in. What I supposed to do next?

How can I delete that unwanted user?

I did not see a green lock icon located on the task bar.

Plus Can I delete citrix, remote desktop, sygate, and teemNT?

I am in the hp tc now with Administrator account.

However got following issues:

1. Not sure where to disable write protection of DOM

2. Plugged MJ in and it won't load at all.

Thanks in advance.

fuguansun,
There are 2 rather long stickeys at the top of this forum. Much of what you have been asking about is there. I believe they even tell you where you can get the manual if you don't have it. If you have reviewed this info and still need help come back with specific questions and there will probably be more help available.
