I switched back to my trusty thin client after the last update made ATA use more difficult. Luckily, the thin client runs as well with the latest update as it did before.
There have been some great minds working on solutions to make the ATA work again with some good results. I am really glad they are keeping the ATA dream alive
I've read some posts about using MJMD5 on a thin client and that got me thinking. If you are already using a thin client, what would be the advantage of using MJMD5 rather than just plugging your MJ directly into the thin client? It seems to me that you would be adding complexity to a setup, using more electricity and compromising reliability.
There must be some advantage to using MJMD5 on the thin client instead of the MJ hardware in some cases, but I don't see it. I am sure there are scenarios I haven't thought of and am curious about those. Can someone provide some details on where this would be a preferred setup?
Before the latest update, I and I think many others, felt that the voice quality with ATA was even better than the TC. I used the MJMDM5 "fix" with PAP2T and Toshiba laptop and the quality was as good as land line.
I'm also in the process of upgrading my 5710 so I can try using the same approach with the ATA and TC.
By the way, I could not get good unrar from your rapidshare links for you version 1.2. Decided to just tough it out with 1G Flash and stock image. I really wanted to try your version because of the tweaks, java, and .NET included in the image. Oh Well. And I love to tinker with this stuff, anyway.

I can see it from the tinkering side. I do plenty of things that aren't really needed just to try them out.
As for the 1.2 image I created, try downloading a trial of WinRAR. I remember someone else having issues using 7-zip and winrar allowed a clean extraction.
I did as you suggested. However, when I looked at each of the 5 archieves they appear to be identical except for size. The 5th file is about 1/3 the size of the other four. I'm not familiar with WinRar but this doesn't seem right. Am I missing something. Do the multiple "dots" in the names mess things up?
I guess if Mini Me is staring me in the face I was successful. Unfortunately, I don't remember what I did to unrar the 5 files. As I recall after I downloaded the files (and WinRar trial) I selected alll 5 files then unrared them as a group into a single folder. Then I had what I needed to follow your directions. I couldn't get the makeboot to function. My desktop is running Win 7 RC 64. Guess maybe some kind of compatability issue. Finally, I tried it on the TC (running plain vanilla XPe) and running from the DOK, it zipped right through so fast I couldn't read the messages. Shut down and rebooted and the rest is history, as they say. Just installed MJMD5 but I'll have to get some honey-do's out of the way before I can try the ATA.

looking for longer run time running on lo energy consumption.
instead of running a whole computer.
rite now have a computer running on 117watts with a cyberpower avs 1500. will get about 45 minutes backup run time.
now if i can figure out how to get this vonage thing modified .i think energy consumption will be less and get a longer run time. when commercial power is lost.
