Need Urgent Help

Post by fuguansun »

I work from home and whenever I log into work vpn, magic jack not work, if I dial a number, it will say : registering.....

If I disconnect from vpn, it will work right away.

I followed wiki link http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... How-To/VPN and it still not work.

Anybody help? I called Linksys and chat with magic jack help, none of them helped.

Please I just lost my cell phone, I got to have this Magic Jack work.

Thanks in advance.

Would it be possible to use separate computers - one for VPN and one for magicjack?

I tried a thinclient also, thin client has nothing but magic jack.

Whenever the vpn on the laptop on, the magic jack will be dead.

is it weird?

Magic jack help said need to open the vpn port of 5060 and 5070, but not sure how though.

Fuguansun - I currently use mJ on a TC and am able to use a VPN with my desktop computer. No problems what so ever.

I would suggest you post your connection info (cable, dsl) and router information so we could have a look see.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do with it.. If you are to use VPN, the magicJack will not work.. Because it's like VPN is blocking the magicJack's connection..

FWIW, I access the company resources via MSTSC and VPN. MJ works with MSTSC; doesn't work with VPN. As the previous poster mentioned, I don't think there's anything you can do about it. When using VPN, none of my other internet connections are accessible.

You need to reconfigure the networking on the computer such that only traffic destined for work goes through the VPN and all other traffic goes direct to the internet. Discuss this with your IT department at work as they may not permit you to do this because it opens a sneak path from the internet to your work intranet.

The best solution is two computers.

It's a setup function in the Cisco software. Look for something like "use gateway on remote network". I expect that you will find it grayed out so you can't change it. Like I said, discuss it with the IT department at work.

Fuguansun - Popgory here, as I said in my post back on 2nd, I am using a VPN on my desktop 'puter while mJ is operational on the Thin Client (Wyse 9450). People are able to use/receive calls the house phone (house wiring terminates to mJ) while I am logged into the Mothership (Xerox).
My VPN Client is software based, Nortel Contivity 4.65.09. For what it is worth, my router is a Linksys, BEFSX41 with VPN Endpoint.
