MJ Suddenly Stopped Connecting

Post by Robyn »

Hi,
I've had MJ close to a year now and been very happy with it. However, this morning, the softphone shows "Ready to call" but there is no ad in the window, and the 911 bar says "not connected." It will not make or receive calls. For outgoing calls I just get loud beeps, and incoming calls go straight to voice mail. I've tried the obvious things like unplugging and restarting. My internet connection is fine. Can anyone help?

You said close to a year. Is it actually over a year and you failed to purchase another year of service?

I'm not due to re-up until mid September. Like I said, I checked all the obvious things.

Did you go to the MJ site and try to manually update your MJ by downloading the update file there? http://www.magicjack.com/9/magicfix.asp

Yes, I did the upgrade a while ago, I know most of the tricks. :-) However, I have an update. Although the appearance of the softphone hasn't changed, I.E. no ads, and "not connected" message on 911 bar; the phone is now working. I'd been trying it every once in a while, and it started functioning as mysteriously as it stopped. Apparently, MJ itself is having connectivity problems in some areas. Hopefully it will keep working... Thanks for the suggestions.

True it could be on their end. They may be working on a server which is affecting you and I am sure others. It does happen every now and then.
Keep your fingers crossed :)
