I just got a new magicjack for testing this tool out. and I plug the info in using the Atlanta proxy and siphon works on my iphone

i guess I should say that I don't know why or how...or for how long.
Any older magicjacks (manufactured from before 4/09) will require some flavor of mjmd5 proxy which I don't think works on iphone/ipod touch portable devices, just regular SIP ATA's and a PC/laptop to support the proxy.

Just wondering where you got the date from something know as fact or just a number? Was there a hardware change then? do you have chip numbers?

Allow some time for the upgrades/updates to load into your MJ and try gain. I tried tenths of times before it worked. Another trick, is to try the PW you get from PW grabber to, say X-lite, and find the right one before using it on MJ/ATA. Good luck

It works,
Folks, just make sure you choose option NO under "activate STUN" in your ATA SIP page and you are ready to go. The only thing remaining is to figure out how to place international calls. More reading/searching ...:((

International calls work great now, thx to the instructions given in this thread. Thanks all of you who contributed.
Quality with the ATA is much better compared to the dongle.

The dreadful s/w upgrade that occured on 6/09/09 was dated 4/10/09. Since the new authentication occured around that time and from various past threads reporting newer ones still work, the jargon leads one to believe that a new generation of dongles are immune.

Perhaps "manufactured" is a wrong choice of wording as it is unknown whether it is hardware, software, account, etc., since it has already been reported numerous times that people that changed phone numbers to get it to work would then fail a day or so later. (I'm sure the newer folk don't want to change their phone number just to take a chance to see if it will break on the ATA.)

Still does not work, 401 unauthorized...the new software even shows my correct username but still not the correct password.

EDIT:

I apologize. I was having trouble finding xlite information. I downloaded and installed MJMD5 and it connected. It looks like the code was what I received a week or so ago I just didn't know =\

MJ works fine on PAP2T. I have a newer MJ though, it seems that some MJs bought before April 09 dont work on ATAs. Just followed the instructions given by MagicDump, disabled the STUN and SIP on my router et voila. Quality is so much better on ATA.

Newer MJ's currently won't require the various flavors of MJMD5 proxy but all MJ's can use an ATA, even the older ones. In either case, Stroths Utilities and/or password finder 2.1 utility is required to get it working on the ATA.

Downloaded Password Finder v2.1 and followed directions (I think). All I see is line after line of "Bad command or file name" This doesn't seem right. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I miss my ATA.

Ok, so I ran the Password Finder V2.1 and got the password and username. But, where do I find the rest of the SIP info? such as the domain, proxy, and dial plan info?

Thanks!

Quote from Magicdump's post of Jan. 09, this thread:
"
Login Information
ProxyUserName = EXXXXXXXXXX1
ProxyUserPassword = XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

UDP Ports
SIPUDPDefaultPort = 0
SIPUDPPortRangeStart = 65535
SIPUDPPortRangeEnd = 49152

Other SIP Data
SIPCallerID = EXXXXXXXXXX1
UserDomain = talk4free.com
ProxyName = proxy1.miami.talk4free.com
ProxyIP = 216.234.79.8
User-Agent = MagicJack/1.80.466c (SJ Labs)" Unquote

replace proxy1.miami.talk4free.com with proxy01.miami.talk4free.com and User-Agent with the newest one and ur good to go.

Can't get it work

Post by pepem »

I have setup 2 PAP"T Linksys with 2 different Magic Jacks, they are working very well I can make and receive calls with very good quality.
I just bought one more dongle first days of August from Radio Shack. This new dongle works just fine. I used Passwordfinder2.1 to get the User and Password for this new dongle, I tried to setup a new PAP2T the same way I did the 2 previous, but no luck it doesn't register, so I went to the first PAP2T which was working very fine, replaced User and password with those found for the last dongle but Registration Failed with the new credentials. I restored the originals User and Passsword and started to work again.

I repeated the same exoerience with the second PAP2T and got the same problem, registration failed. Then I setup the third PAP2T with User and Passw. for the first and second dongle and everything was fine.

I have tried pm.exe about 10 times and always got the same password.

Can someone help me, please.

I have used this utility with no problem at all. I am going to assume you know your way around Windows.

First, create a folder on your C drive called TEMP if you don't already have one. If you do already have a temp folder on your C drive, create a sub-folder of TEMP called MJ.

Go into the \temp\mj folder and make sure PM.exe and PMDUMP.exe are in that folder. If not, download the application again. Once verified, do the following:

Click on START then RUN. Type CMD into the field and then press enter. You should be in a black DOS box now. Type the following:
CD\TEMP\MJ and then press ENTER

Now your should see the prompt on your screen indicating you are in the proper directory (folder).

PM.exe should run from there.

magicjackhacks and password finders not working

Post by stel »

magickjacksuite (from hack this box) fires up ok but no matter how many times i try i cannot get SIP data. i even tried a few different delay times.

so i went to magickjackhacks only to find all the zip files there (password finder v 2.1, and mjutil 1.6beta1 - an update) just get you html files disguised as zip files. it's very strange.

i did get pm.exe and pmdump.exe from another link for automagickjack.rar but there isn't name support with these version.

what's going on? is mj messing with the "hacks" site? what do i do now anyway? can anybody point me to alternate pw finder w/name?

Hello -

This is not accurate as far as I can tell. I have setup a few MJs on SPA2102 in the past week. Some for MJs that are older, some are newer.

It is only the most recent activations that I am having a problem with.

Here is an interesting thought. If MJ (the company) were to update the MJ (the devices), wouldn't all of the devices be updated? Or, do some people have different updates? If this is the case, how do we get the Magicjack to have the proper version of update needed to make SPA2102 work?

Thinking this through a little more... Does it matter what is on the MJ? As long as the proper info is in the SPA2102, it should work.

This means that the idea now is to get the proper info.

I am kind of stumped as to why some SPA2102's work with some accounts, and the same SPA2102 won't work if different account info (user/pass) is put in.

I know that someone here knows the fix to this. I guess patience will pay.

So you are having a problem downloading this file directly from my site? which files are you having a problem with and I can get it fixed. I do have a forum at my site for such issues. If you are just looking for a link to Password Finder 2.1 or Password Finder 2.2 You can simply download one of these, I have downloaded and unzipped them moments ago and they contain the correct files. Please let me know if you are still having problems.

Thanks

Thanks for the procedure. Unfortunately it didn't work. Still getting the same message. Any other ideas? I'm running on thin client but have quite a bit of memory so don't think that's the problem.

I was under the impression that you were trying to get your user/pass from the MJ using Password Finder. Is this correct? If so, the procedure I posted works. I have done it a bunch of times.

This may be a stupid question, but....

What does the purchase date have to do with it? What is to say that a MJ hasn't been sitting around for a while. Therefore, I could buy an MJ on a month after your date of April 09, but there is nothing saying it hasn't been sitting on a shelf for a while.

So, this leads to more questions. Is it manufacturer date of the MJ? Or, is it activation date of MJ?

I still have several MJs that I got at the same time. Some work, some don't. I am not sure how to get the ones that don't work, working.

Thanks.

I think you are correct. I'm not sure we really know why some work and some dont. My MJ from January purchase is still working and the one i just bought does not.

Of the ones you you have working, were they activated on a different platform than the ones that dont work?

do the working ones all have a different software revision? 1.80.499b?

what kinds of trends do you notice like this?

There really is no reason that I can figure. Some are activated on XP, some on Vista. Both work, and, both don't work.

I am going to revisit some of these user/pass that I have after 30 days. I want to see if there is a time element involved.

Where do I find the software revision? I'll answer your question regarding that once I know how to find it.

To be honest, I am kind of surprised that nobody here, who has been around for a while and has more expertise than us, has not spoken up. I figured we'd get a little more info and assistance than what we've been seeing here.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. I am just surprised is all.

I can give you my experience,
my pre-june 09 MJ is working fine on a TC 256/256. Quality is what it is as voice goes through the dongle. My post- june 09 MJ works great (at least for now) on an PAP2T and a dd-wrt.
All info you need is in these threads. I spent tens of hours reading through and dissecting info, need to do the same.
Also,
some are gone to the TK6000 that reportedly gives less problems.
Good luck

Seriously! To say no one has 'spoken' up or offered assistance is crazy. This forum alone is the most resourceful out there. It just takes some time to sift through the info to find what you need.

I went from MJ noob to ATA/WRT pro in a matter of days using this forum alone.

Can't setup a third PAP2T

Post by pepem »

I have setup 2 Linksys PAP2 with credentials of 2 different Magic Jack dongles, they are working very well, I can make and receive calls with very good quality.
I just bought one more dongle last days of August from Radio Shack. This new dongle works just fine while plugged to the PCs USB. I used Stroth MJ Utilities 1.6 to get the SIP Info the same way I did for the first 2 dongles, butI got the message "No SIP Info Found". Then I used Passwordfinder 2.1 and got a User and a Password but didn't work, so I tried Passwordfinder2.2 in order to get the the proper User and Password for this new dongle, the result was the same User and Pwd I got from Passwordfinder2.1.I tried to setup a new PAP2T the same way I did the 2 previous, but no luck it doesn't register, so I went to the first PAP2T which was working very fine, replaced User and password with those found for the last dongle but Registration Failed with the new credentials. I restored the originals User and Passsword and started to work again.

I repeated the same exoerience with the second PAP2T and got the same problem, Registration failed. Then I setup the third PAP2T with User and Pwd. for the first and then the second dongle and in both cases everything was fine.

I have tried pm.exe about 10 times and always got the same password.

What am I missing?, what am I doing wrong?

Can someone help me, please.

I would think only new MJ dongles direct from mj will work with ATA. Older dongles that stores sell like RS or Best Buy will need some flavor of mjmd5.

I think you may be right. In my case I bought the 3 of them at Radio Shack (same store), but only the last one which I bought about a month later than the second one is giving me this problem.

Any way I would like to take your suggestion about giving some mjmd5 flavor, but I don't know how to do it.

I have downloaded and run a small file called mjmd5 and don't know what else do I have to do.

Can you help me on that, please.

Thank you

I typed this up a few weeks ago .....

How to get MJMD5 and the Linksys PAP2T-NA ATA working with magicJack.

1.) Download the MJMD5.zip file:

2.) Unzip to a directory on your PC (I used C:\MJproxy).

3.) Make sure your magicJack is plugged in and get your SIP credentials using magicjackhacks password finder v2.2 or Stroth’s utility; password finder worked best for me:
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/stro ... t4230.html
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/stro ... t4230.html
http://magicjackhacks.com/ (password finder v2.2)

4.) Using the info retrieved from password finder or Stroth's utility, run C:\MJproxy\MJMD5.exe, and enter the proxy (proxy01.xxxxxxxx.talk4free.com), set forward port and listen port to 5070, and enter the password retrieved from magicjackhack’s password finder. Check to Save Settings. This creates a MJMD5.ini file in the C:\MJproxy directory, and a tray icon showing that MJMD5 is running.
IF you are having trouble with the proxy, additional info to get your Proxy info:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r209511 ... -are-using

5a.) Setup your PAP2T-NA ATA using Line 1 and reset to defaults (****, 73738#).

5b.) For screenshots of an ATA config:
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t5066.html
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/cert ... 4-180.html

6.) Unplug your magicJack

7.) Log into your router and determine the IP address of the computer running MJMD5 and the IP address of the ATA. For ATA IP address, you can also use your phone, enter ****, 110#).

8.) Log into the ATA and in Line 1, add the proxy and ensure it points to the IP address of your PC running MJMD5 (mine happens to be 192.168.0.193); in this example, set the proxy in the ATA to 192.168.0.193:5070. I set my PC to get a fixed IP address from the router, so I wouldn’t have to change anything down the road. I had a problem where calls weren’t coming through after about 30-45 minutes; I changed the “register expires” under Line 1 from 3600 to 180 and it seemed to fix the issue.

9.) For the appropriate ATA changes from the default settings, change to admin/advanced view:
--System tab – Primary ntp server = time.nist.gov; Secondary ntp server = time-a.nist.gov
--SIP tab – no changes
--Provisioning tab – no changes
--Regional tab – change time zone to your correct time; also change daylight savings from the default start=4/-1/7;end=10/1/7;save=1 to start=3/8/7/2:00;end=11/1/7/2:00;save=1
--Line 1 tab – NAT mapping enable = yes (optional - this may not be necessary for all users, but it seemed to help with my router); NAT keep alive enable = (you can leave as $PROXY or enter the actual proxy IP and port from step 8.; SIP port = 5060; Proxy = (see step 8.); Register expires = 180; Display name = (Exxxxxxxxxx01); User ID (Exxxxxxxxxx01) and Password = (info retrieved from password finder)
----Exxxxxxxxxx01 = your phone number ; change dialing info to: (< :1408>[2-9]xxxxxxS0|*xx|<911:ENTERYOURNUMBERWITH1PREFIX>S0|1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx|<411:18004664411>S0|1900xxxxxxx!)
--User 1 tab – no changes
--Save settings.

10.) After saving, you should see the blue light appear on your ATA for line 1, meaning it has a valid connection. Go back to the "Info" page for Line 1; it should reflect a REGISTRATION STATE of "Online". You should have a dial tone, be able to make and receive calls, and your attached to the ATA should ring when receiving a call.

11.) Optional: Setup a password on the ATA (System tab – enter a password for both the admin and user logins) and save changes.

12a.) Setup MJMD5 to start with Windows and it automagically syncs with the ATA (in case of a reboot, power outage, etc).

12b.) If you don’t need or want the tray icon, you can run MJMD5 as a service.
http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t1364.html

You need instsrv.exe and srvany.exe from rktools as documented in the link above.

At this point, you need to stop the MJMD5 that is running in your tray. Double-click it to open up the interface, then hit the close box, and it should disappear from your tray.

If you have instsrv.exe and srvany.exe in C:\MJproxy, you would run these commands (from command prompt or put in a batch file) to create the service:

c:\MJproxy\instsrv.exe "MagicJack" "C:\MJproxy\srvany.exe"

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MagicJack\Parameters /v Application /d ""C:\MJproxy\MJMD5.exe" /f

You now have a service. To configure it, get into Services (most people it is Start Menu, Programs, Administrative Tools, Services). Scroll down to the "MagicJack" service, double-click it, and make sure "Startup Type" is set to "Automatic". Then click on the Start button to start the service. You are now set, the service will start automatically on a reboot. You don't need to touch the service again.

13.) The downside: You still need your PC running whenever you want to use the magicJack phone ------
The upside: The quality of calls through the ATA is significantly better and, better yet, caller ID with call waiting now works on your handset!!!

Note: A better long-term option is to purchase a router using openwrt or dd-wrt, so you won’t need to leave your computer on 24/7, refer to the magicjack forum on how to do this.

Hope this helps and standard disclaimer of I am not sure this is against magicJack's TOS, I am not responsible for any issues, etc applies.

I would think only new MJ dongles direct from mj will work with ATA. Older dongles that stores sell like RS or Best Buy will need some flavor of mjmd5.
Thanks synchron

I think you may be right. In my case I bought the 3 of them at Radio Shack (same store), but only the last one which I bought about a month later than the second one is giving me this problem.

Any way I would like to take your suggestion about giving some mjmd5 flavor, but I don't know how to do it.

I have downloaded and run a small file called mjmd5 and don't know what else do I have to do.

Can you help me on that, please.

Thank you
What newtoncd explained above is actually just one of the flavors which requires your PC or laptop running the proxy to be on all the time. The other flavors involve sticking the proxy into your router that has either DDWRT or Tomato F/W so you don't have to have PC on 24/7.

Details on how to do this are elsewhere here in the stickies section.

Thank you very much synchron. Looks like this is a lot of work to do. I'm gonna try it right now and I let you know how did it go.

Thank you very much synchron.

I have one more question for you, I have a Linksys WRTP54G Router, do you know if it is an openwrt or dd-wrt?

Thnak you very much you have been very helpfull.

Yes I believe your router supports Open-wrt, ddwrt, and tomato. I own an Airlink Ar670W that has just recently become "ddwrtable" (finally off the WIP list for over a year) but I'd rather not bother messing with it since it will disrupt my family's use of the internet and having it work for mj is not worth the while for me.

Newtoncd provided some pretty factual instructions so he should get the credit. I just tell people to go read the stickies here. Good luck in your hacking endeavors.

Start MagicJack software is not working.. I have it set to run as a service.

ServiceMode: Yes
Drive Letter: T
Path 1: C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data
Path 2: C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data
MJService: MagicJack

Worked with the 6.0 utility but 6.1 will not start the service at all. Just does nothing.
