Setting MJ on a network, things to consider?

Post by vnecaxa »

I am bidding on a contract to sell 500 MJ to a company that plans to use them on several sites in Canada and the USA via their network. what are same of the technical issues I need to consider in order for MJ to work on a network? MJ's technical support tells me that no extra steps need to be taken, that MJ should work just fine as long as only MJ is connected to a computer at a time. Thanks

If it were me I would implement QOS for the ports being used by the Magic Jacks using a good quality switch, HP ProCurve line or Cisco Catalyst. This would help to ensure a high call quality. I have not tested if the same ports are always used for all calls but have located 5-6 ports, it was a while ago when I checked into which ports were being used.

Additionally, that is a lot of upload bandwidth, make sure you have at least a T1 connection and possibly even better to support it at the quality you need. With that in place you should be all set.

I am assuming when writing the above that all 500 will be at the same site.

Thanks. The 500 are spread out over 6 sites, the most having 120 mj. I guess the answer does not change, correct?
