When calling MJ from landline phone in same area code, I get 2 rings and then a recording "It is not necessary to dial a one or the area code when dialing this number..." Tried dialing different combo's with no luck - 803 - 883 -**** From landline no 883 numbers work.
MJ will accept calls from cell phones.

MJ not accepting local calls from landline

Re: MJ not accepting local calls from landline
Hi, there are a few similar posts here on the subject. I'm unable to find them, but in the case of other MJ users, it's related to their MJ number being a new prefix (883) and some of the phone companies don't recognize it yet. It sounds like your cell company recognizes it. So you have to contact your phone company and ask them the status of accessing 883 numbers. If they don't believe it exists, you can call them using your MJ and your MJ number should show up on their caller ID display.ChaosBand wrote: MJ will accept calls from cell phones. .
Local Phone Co. Blocking MJ?
Thanks for the speedy response. Came across this while investigating...
Local phone company blocking MJ "We're sorry, all circuits a
I just had an interesting bug. I spent 2 hours on Chat with Eve and April. Wed afternoon, something broke.
No one in my local area code could call my MJ number. They all got the "We're sorry, all circuits are busy now,
please try your call later" recording from the phone company (Qwest).
The Chat folks called me twice and the call came through immediately and the quality was great. I also had someone
in Calif. call me and that worked great too. I tried to call from my local hard wired phone and got the recording msg.
for two full days. I tried 3 separate prefix numbers and they all failed with the same recorded msg. Verizon wireless
was broken too, no connect, no msg, just a failed call.
It seems the local phone companies don't like MJ much.
Someone at MJ must have called the local phone company because within 45 minutes, the problem was fixed.
It WAS a bit frustrating to go through all their "format this" "upgrade this" unplug the MJ and restart it stuff but
the problem DID get fixed. I also have a MJ phone number in Miami. When the Chat tech called me to test the
voice quality, I got 305-454-4232 as the callback number. It very possibly is in India but I left them a msg stating
that the problem was fixed. Now I'm waiting on an email msg to confirm that they got that msg. Now Verizon works too.
***My parents have had MJ for quite a while and they used to be able to get calls from land lines, but not anymore. I'll be calling my local provider in the a.m.
