Changing Proxy

Post by Craig »

I am in Florida, but I use an Ohio mJ number. I want to change my proxy from the Cleveland one to the Tampa one. I have found several threads mentioning how to do this, but all seem outdated. Is there any way I can do this still, on the newest version of mJ?

Check out section 4.1 in the separate MJ wiki at http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... ources/FAQ

Section 4.1 has two links, one to find out which proxy you are using and a second on how to change it. You can also do it with settings in your router. See http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/alte ... t4853.html

If it's harder to get the credentials out of the MJ now, maybe you can do the router approach without knowing your MJ credentials, just route based on the proxy addresses for Ohio to Florida.

To force MJ to use a specific proxy server can only be accomplished by blocking access to all the MJ servers you don't want to use. Try going to the MJ wiki http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack the directions there are up to date. Another good thread is http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/sele ... t4287.html the benefits to this are you can find a server that gives you the best call quality. The downside to this is it takes longer for MJ to register and it takes longer for outgoing calls to be completed as MJ will try other proxy servers first until it finds a server it can connect to.
