Voxox Offers an Unlimited US/Canada for $2.45 a Month

Post by macman4hire »

Voxox offers an unlimited US/Canada plan for $2.45 a month. Competition is a great thing. Only $9.40 more a year than magicJack and this currently works with ATA's. I may end up trying this option instead of renewing my magicJack for another year. If any has this plan please comment on how you like it. I currently have the free US phone number from Voxox and seems to work well.

Is their server for the ATA still sip:sip01-west.voxox.com??

This hasn't been working for a long time. Only thing that works is their bloated softphone so if I can't get it to work with ATA, I'll pass.

The sever that I use is sip01-west.voxox.com on Sip Sorcery. At this time I am able to receive calls with the free VoxOx number.

You're right. I tried it on eyebeam and that server appears to work. The thing that I can't get to work is the GV callback to the VoxOx number ala sipsorcery.

Sorry for the confusion.

BTW, if you're using sipsorcery, what's the point of paying any $$ to any provider? Outgoing should be free using the sipsorcery GV callback method.

Check your dial plan in Sip Sorcery as mine is currently working.

I would like a backup service in case GV pulls the plug. Right now it seems to be a toss up between VoxOx or renewing my magicJack for another year. This is why I was inquiring if anyone has used the either of the VoxOx monthly plans.

You make a good point about the backup but VoxOx does not appear to be that reliable for me. It worked once and now it is choking in Eyebeam/Xlite as if the sip01-west.voxox.com server is dead. Now I get a 601 Denied for every call I make and it registers with any random username/pw for credentials which makes me wonder if my account/IP is banned.

As far as the DP in Sipsorcery, when I look at the console, GV calls back the VoxOx number and only if I have their softphone is running I can answer and the console spits back a 480 error so I never get the successful callback from GV and the ATA phone will get fast busy.

Out of all the providers that offer free incoming (and now very cheap outgoing) VoxOx Sip service is very flaky with many customers on their forums questioning whether currently sip works at all. It seems they are pushing their softphone only and $2.49/mo to any landline for 3000 minutes/month (unlimited fair use policy) is still not a bad deal.

Consider yourself lucky that you can get it to work on your SIP-ATA consistently.
