I didn't think it could be done any longer with MJ alone, but I almost remember a recent post how someone is doing it in concert with another VoIP system. If I find the thread, I'll post a link here.

Another possibility is to create an additional Google Voice account which you do not give out and use it for things like this. While it will not block the outgoing caller ID, it will display your GV number. Allmost better than a CID block.

I ponied up the $10 for a SpoofCard account to test the service. Works well and there is also an app to use it with my cell phone. What I haven't been able to test is whether it will spoof an outgoing call to a toll-free number, although I'm guessing it will.

Now, if I only had some nefarious purpose for it's use. Drat!

The default anonymous outgoing callerid Skype sends is typically 1234500000 or similar.

As an option to being completely anonymous, you can also log into your Skype account and set the outgoing callerid to your mobile phone number.

Voxox has an application to let you "spoof" your caller ID at will. Unfortunately, they don't support standalone ATA boxes. You can either pay $2.45 monthly for unlimited minutes, or PAYG at 1 cent per minute (2 cents per minute if you use the callback feature to set up the call.

It is strange. If I put my friends telephone number in the spoof box, and then call that number, it goes straight to her voicemail, and asks for the password. In other words, her own phone company thinks she is calling in.

If you want to be anonymous, just buy an MJ with cash, and use wrong information in the registration. But remember, if you call 911, they will have the fictitious registered address. And will have to track the IP origin of the call. - So use a coffee shop open wifi LOL

When MJ still allowed for spoofing, the spoofing script originated by Stewart and later refined by others, DID spoof my 800#. It was a while ago, but I tested it under a variety of circumstances and was pleasantly surprised to see it spoof even the 800# service I was using.

I think it would warrant testing to be certain, if it's an important feature. As I stated previously, I'm not convinced the pay-for-spoof services will work on an 800# and I no longer have the service, so I don't have a reliable way to test.
