Magic Jack terminated

Post by hlamborn »

My phone didn't work so I restarted Magic Jack. I got a message saying that my account is terminated, even though I have 5 more years service.

I purchased Magic Jack and registered my account on 12/28/08. Later, on 1/27 2009 I accepted an offer of 5 additional years service, which I paid for by credit card.

Does anyone know of a way to contact Magic Jack? I have bank records to prove this I should still have service.

[Edited] Chat is the primary means of contacting MJ. There's a link to chat on the www.magicjack.com page. The direct link is http://www.magicjack.com/techchat

Others have reported success by emailing the owner of the MJ company, Dan Borislow. Search for his name in these forums.

If you are making in excess of what MJ deems "normal" they will terminate your account no matter how many years you have paid for.
It is in the TOS which you agreed too.

In such situations incoming calls are still operational. Trying to make an outbound call from a line that has been targeted as having abused the MJ call limits usually gets rerouted to a MJ internal recording telling you to dial 214-???-???? to discuss the issue. Never answers of course. I think MJ chat can tell you if your acct has been s?itcanned. Otherwise, you are just the victim of a random MJ snafu.

Situation Normal: All F'ed Up... Funny.

Well, at least they didn't change your phone number. I really don't know what's worse.

Maybe buying one of those TK6000 might be a good test run to see if it's any better. Maybe better customer service.

Once your MJ becomes a target I think your hosed.

Are you sure you looked? Once I opened the TOS, it took me 5 seconds to find it.

Excess, excess, excess.

It seems that you have not applied the redemption code of your five years plan to your magicjack number. Check if you have received any email for claim code or do chat with Magicjack Tech Support. They will provide you plan code for your additional years of service. NO worries :)

Magicjack Terms of Service
6. Proper Use

You agree that you are responsible for your own communications and for any consequences that arise from them. You agree that you will use the magicJack device in compliance with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws, rules and regulations. Among other things you will not agree to, and will not authorize or encourage any third party to: (a) prevent others from using their magicJack devices, (b) use the magicJack device for any fraudulent or inappropriate purpose, or (c) remove any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights notices contained in or on the magicJack device, including those of any of our business associates, from whom we may have licensed certain components used in the magicJack device. Violation of any of these obligations may result in immediate termination of this Agreement, and may subject you to state and federal penalties and other legal consequences. magicJack reserves the right, but will have no obligation, to investigate your use of the magicJack device in order (a) to determine whether a violation of the Agreement has occurred or (b) to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request. magicJack reserves the right to block calls to numbers that abuse its services such as, but not limited to, traffic stimulation numbers. If magicJack sees excessive use, including but not limited to, a customer whose usage is twenty (20) times more than the average magicJack's customer's usage, or a customer who calls more than 50 different telephone numbers per day, or systematic or intentional misuse, it reserves the right, in our sole discretion, to terminate your use of the magicJack device and/or Software immediately, and you will not be entitled to get a refund of any licensing fee or any other fee you may have paid to us.

IF MJ has blocked any customer for excessive usage then that person will hear an announcement to call on a number and that person will have to call on that number to restore service

Well, that's the beauty of it. We don't know, so we can't prove them wrong. They are looking for a pattern of excessive use.

They don't care about incoming minutes, because they get paid for those. It's the outgoing minutes, if consistently outside the norm of household use, that will get you yanked.
