Wyse WT9455XL - MJ Not Run

Post by codenerd »

I've got the above Wyse TC with 256MB Flash RAM & 504MB RAM, running XP embedded. When I plug in the MJ dongle (as Admin user) MJ says it's downloading an update, but I don't get the MJ "ready" screen afterward. I've also tried it when logging in as a User & the Update message never appears (although the "one minute of savings..." message does). I've tried it with the Write Filter on and off, and no difference. Windows Task Manager says MJsetup.exe IS running. So I'm stumped. Can anyone offer me any suggestions? Many many thanks in advance.

I am gonna assume you meant your logged in as Administrator.

If so is there a firewall which may be blocking the MJ Internet transactions? If so try disabling it to see if that may be the problem.

As an Admin User, I disabled the Firewall on my TC, then rebooted and went back in as an Admin User. Upon plugging the MJ dongle into the USB port, the screen showed the "One Minute of savings..." graphic, then I got the "Lucky you... Upgrading Now" screen. Then..... nada.... zip....zilch. No MJ app running. What might the problem be? Thanks again.

Did you get a MJ icon placed on the desktop? Of so will MJ start by clicking on that? If not have you tried double clicking on the second MJ drive in My Computer (probably f:)

If you open task manager what MJ related tasks are running if any? (i.e. MJsetup, MJsplash or MJ itself)

Do you have a powered hub handy just in case it may be weak USB power?

Reply: No desktop icon. In My Computer I clicked on the second icon (e) then in right pane of Explorer clicked Autorun, and the "Updating" icon appearred, but MJ did not load.

Reply: only mjsetup.exe is running.

>>Do you have a powered hub handy just in case it may be weak USB power?

Reply: Yes, and I tried it. Same unsuccessful result.

Maybe the problem is with port opening in your router. Perhaps try putting the PC in the DMZ until MJ can load.

I bypassed my router & connected it directly to my ISP's Internet connection (cable modem). Same result. So, I'm stumped.

I have exactly the same problem with my Wyse 9450XE with 256 MB RAM. I first got this unit about 4 weeks ago with MJ already installed. It worked fine for a few weeks. But as soon as it tried to do the MJ upgrade it ran out of available memory and restarted, tried MJ upgrade again, ran out of memory and restarted . . .

So, in my case at least, the issue is with the upgrade. I have not been able to solve this yet. Ideas welcome.

Although you purchased this TC from another supplier, I believe I can help to resolve your issue. The problem most likely is the lack of available space on the Flash. First go to Add/Remove Programs and remove any unnecissary items, if there are any. hen use the mJ removal tool available here:

http://upgrades.talk4free.com/tools/mjRemover.exe

Commit to disk and reboot. After reboot mJ should try to upgrade again. f mJ does not auto launch after reboot you can manually launch it by double clicking the drive under My Computer (usually the D: drive). After the upgrade is complete, commit and reboot again. You should be good to go!!!

Hope this helps...

You're welcome. Glad to help.

To the orig poster, the flash is most likely too full to add the mJ software. Remove any unused programs to free up as much space as possible, commit, reboot and try to install it again. Also, try increasing the EWF size to 64MB. Good luck!!

Thanks to all for your help. I decided that Alpman's microdrive & IDE cable/adapter offering cloned with XP embedded was worth the investment, so I ditched my DOM & went with that. It works great, and all is well. Many thanks.
