need baddly some help with my new Magic Jack. I searched in these forums but didn't find anything like this:
1) Wired connection to my own DSL router: The phone works (meaning I can dial calls, and the phone rings if someone calls), MJ softphone works, USB/PC (one w XP other w Win7) work BUT there is NO sound at all for incoming or outgoing calls (I can't hear the other end and they can't hear me, no echo either, nothing).
2) Wireless connection to my neighbours unsecure wireless network, both phone and MJ soft phone work great for both incoming and outgoing calls, albeit the sound is a bit choppy.
3) Wired connection to my own DSL, disabled the DSL modem/router firewall, and the phone and MJ softphone work fine for both incoming and outgoing calls and the sound quality is good too.
As I did not change anything else except enabling/disabling the firewall on the DSL modem/router, it seems that the issue is with the firewall on my modem/router (westell versalink 327 yeah I know it's old but it works
I've talked (well, chatted online) with MagicJack help for several hours, and the last one disconnected me (!!) because I wasn't doing as I was told! I told him that I did not want to remove my DSL router firewall so he disconnected me just like that! Talk about customer service. But I digress.
Since MJ "techs" weren't much help, I'm turning to all of you for solutions. Surely there must be a way to be able to keep the firewall up on DSL router and use MJ at the same time? I did set the port forwarding on the router up with UDP 5060-5070 but that didn't do anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks
