can't get rid of the dial tone while dialing number

Post by pmorris1 »

I can make, and receive calls ok. My problem is when I start to put in my phone number the dial tone doesn't go away until I finish putting in all my numbers. I just changed computers. I am now running windows 7. I have done the online help many times. Also have done the windows update. It will correct for a while, and then it goes back to having the dial tone. When I first hooked it up to my new HP, everytime I turned on my computer,my computer will hang during bootup. Then I hooked the magicjack to an external powered USB hub, and my computer boots up without a problem. But I still have this dial tone problem. I have even tryed the magicJack remove , and still I have to problem. Please help

Are you by any remote chance using magicBlock or have your magicJack dialer set up as a service?

Yes I did have the magicblock running.I disabled it, and that fixed my problem.Thank you very much for the heads up. I used the magicblock on my old computer, with windows 7, and it didn't cause any problems. Could it have anything to do with the fact that my new computer is running windows 7 64 bit, where as my old windows 7 was 32 bit? Is there a work around, so I can use the magic block feature? I wonder if the magicblock was what was keeping my computer from booting up.

There is a nasty bug in the last magicJack dialer update that does NOT allow dialtone to stop if the dialer window is minimized to the traybar during dialing. To reproduce the problem you can go offhook to place a call and then manually close the magicJack dialer window back to the traybar before you dial any digits.

I suggest you give the free Magicsilence plugin tool a try instead. It includes a fix for the bug above and dialtone does stop normally.

The Magicsilence plugin tool is free and can be downloaded at http://tools.pcphonesoft.com OR http://www.magicsilence.com .

Thank you for your help. I will give that file a try. MagicBlock was the only fix I had heard of.
