Is there a "best" TC system to use for MJ?

Post by luclin999 »

Basically, I just bought the Magicjack system yesterday and the voice quality over the phone sounded great after trying it out on my home PC.

Now I would like to install it on a dedicated TC or old laptop system that I can run 24/7 with minimal power usage.

I'd be willing to just buy a used TC system and configure it myself but after spending half the day looking around I can't find any place here in Houston that has used Thin Client machines available. In a city this size I am certain there are places that sell used TCs, but I can't seem to find them.. Which left me looking at Ebay.

I've read quite a bit here about the HP 5000/5700 TC series but a lot of what I see on Ebay are Wyse or Neoware units and I would like to make certain that what I purchase will run the MJ service well.

Is there really a lot of difference between brands for this?

You might look for posts by Alpman. He sells MJ ready TC of many kinds. He has discussed pros and cons of many.

I agree, check out Alpman's sales. I bought a neoware ca100 maybe 6 months back. I forget i'm not on a landline. The Neoware CA100 is upgradeable. I added 512 mb ram and a 6 gb hd. Ram i had in a closet, and the 6 gb hd was very reasonable. Without those add on's, the setup by Alpman ran fine for MJ. Now i can use the Neoware for web surfing if i wanted too.
