I received my new magicJack device today and I got it set up on my Macbook Pro. The audio quality seems a bit staticy, but the thing that I am most concerned about is that when I try to call my new magicJack number from my landline, I get a "Number not in service" message.
It seems to work fine when I call from my cell phone, but the landline persistently get the "number not in service" message. I was online with the MJ support folks for over an hour and they ended saying that the Engineering Team will be working on it.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? If so, how can this be resolved?
I am looking to use the MJ number as a business line and would like to get this issue resolved. I am also wondering if this might have anything to do with MJ and Canadian phone service compatibility...
TIA!

Not in Service message
I am having a similar problem. When a landline phone tries to call my MJ #, they get the message that my number is not in service or is disconnected (I have verified that they have dialed the area code-they tried both ways). Seems there is no problem when cell phones call my MJ number. I cannot determine if ALL landline incoming calls are getting this message or just some but I only seem to have two incoming calls from a landline in my Calls List since I installed MJ (and they were both on the same day), all the rest of the incoming calls are from cell phones.
I notice there is a 'Fix" offered in the Advanced User section of the MJ Menu. Should I run this and will it help? What else can I do?

I received an email from someone in Engineering today. He suggested that I call my landline provider and speak to the translation department to let them know about the issue.
Rather than going through the trouble now, I think I will wait for more of the Canadian numbers to be released so that I can have it changed to one of those and then try to resolve any issues I might have with that one.
So far, I'm sorry to say that I'm not very impressed with MJ.

Incoming calls from landline phones
I discovered that my McAfee virus software had a firewall setting to only allow outbound access for the Magic Jack software. I changed it to Full Access but I can't test it yet until I get to a landline phone to call. Seems this may have been the problem (although I'm not sure why cell phone calls coming in had no problem)
If had Magicjack a little over a year and I had the same thing happen to me when I first got it. I ended up calling my pohne company and they did fix the same day. They said it was a switching problem. Give them a call, they'll fix you up.blots wrote:I received an email from someone in Engineering today.
