in and outbound messages intermittent. Words are chopped with with fraction of a second breaks in the sound. I'm using with wireless att phone system consisting of one base and two satellite units. Sound is much better with old wired handset but still not perfect.

If your computer is connected via wireless, move it to a wired port. Raise the priority of the magicJack process (use PRIO to raise it to "above normal" and to keep it that way across reboots). Try another phone - there have been reports of problems with DECT phone - cheap $20 off-brand cordless phones tend to work well - mine is a cheap no-name that works great.

Base phone is connected to magic jack in my lab, about 50 feet from handsets, computer is wired. Tried raising power level on modem via 'att setup, http://192.168.1.254, definite improvement, changed channel from ch#1 to Ch #9 another improvement but still not perfect. Ordered another cordless phone set. Hope this fixes the problem. Other than the problems with magic jack I was having phone trouble even before, with all wired hand phones. Phone co couldn't or wouldn't fix it even though I had been calling them for years with the same complaints. Above measures made phone system usable if not perfect. Thanks for your advice.

I had the same problem about the phone call quality (incoming and outgoing sounding choppy), and after some tinkering, I make the following recommendations:

1. Secure your wireless internet with WPA2 security - WEP can be cracked in less than 15 minutes. If you have open authentication, your neighbors are secretly thanking you for free wireless internet.

2. Connect your PC that has the Magic Jack device directly to your modem (or)
3. Disconnect any second and third pc's attached to your router - their connectivity applications such as anti virus and Window's updates will mesh with your phone calls.

AS A MENTION OF FACT - I have managed to successfully send faxes (multiple pages) using my Magic Jack device, over a long-distance connection. Incoming don't work as well, but that's for another discussion. I am using a cheapo HP OfficeJet J3640 All-In-One FAX machine. I turned the baud rate down to 9600, and turned off error correction. YOU DO NEED A HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION TO DO THIS!!!
