Cordless phones and voice mail

Post by tallpaw »

New to this forum and have a question for you MJ experts. I am thinking about buying a cordless phone system and want to know if anybody can answer the following questions:

1. Does the Caller ID and Caller Waiting ID feature show the telephone numbers of whos calling on the cordless handsets. (I know it shows up on MJ box on my computer) but if I am upstairs can I see who is calling on my telephone handset.
2. The Panasonic telephone system that I am contemplating buying has a voicemail indicator on the phone .. a light that lights up on the headset if you have a voice mail. Does MJ have the capability of making this indicator light work if I have a voice mail message. Here is a comment on the telephone from someone that owns this panasonic system:

"I like ny panasonic phone a lot but you really have to read the manual to get the voicemail indicator to work. If you use your phone company for your voicemail and they send a signal to let you know you have a message, this phone will alert you....however, to activate this feature, you have to enter the number you call to get you voicemail and turn on the voicemail detection. It's pretty clear through the menus how to do this, but if you don't know to do it, you'll be frustrated that the indicator isn't working."

Thanks for your help anybody !!

1) Yes, on most phones it will work.

2) MJ does not support vmail signaling AFAIK.
Enjoys a daily VOIP cocktail made from:

-One shot Magic Jack
-One shot TK6000
-One shot NetTalk Duo
-Two shots Ooma (it's bigger)

Shaken, not stirred.

Google Voice is the chaser.
