<rant>First I have to say, either I'm doing something totally wrong or this forum has the worst search function I have ever used. Anything I type brings back thousands of hits but none are even relevant to my question .</rant>
With that said I am trying to find an answer to what I think is a simple question. How can I turn off call waiting?. The interruption beeps that happen when another call is coming in are ridiculous. If there isn't a simple MJ button or checkbox to tick, is there a third part app that can handle it? Or is there a way to get rid of the long annoying call waiting beeps?
As far as I am aware, the only way to do this is to manually turn the Magicfeature's Do Not Disturb feature on and off before and after your call.
Within the next couple of weeks, the new feature "Call Waiting Disable (Per Call - Dial 70) will be available in Magicfeatures. There have been a number of very recent requests for this feature so don't feel alone.
The call waiting tones used in Magicfeatures are a bit quieter and less intrusive than the standard magicJack ones and only come on every 10 seconds like a landline, so you may or may not still need to disable call waiting depending on your specific situation.
Call Waiting Disable (Dial 70) has just been released in Magicfeatures Release 1.07.
Just go offhook and dial 70 on your phone keypad. When you hear dialtone again enter the number you wish to call. Call waiting is restored after you hang up.
There is also a new option available to disable the call waiting feature for all calls.
For clarification, the Magicfeatures Plugin lets you to turn off call waiting for regular magicJack and magicJack Plus dongles when they are plugged into the USB port of your computer.
