Any Proxy will work ?

Post by baluvee »

Hi

I am planning on buying

http://xtreamer.net/etrayz/specs.aspx.
Xtreamer eTRAYz (2Bay RAID NAS - Personal Web Server & Storage)

The Xtreamer eTRAYz is an ultra compact Giga lan based 2-Bay NAS solution specifically designed and optimized for local HD streaming over LAN.

It can serve you even wirelessly as a personal web server in which you will be able to store and share PHP based applications like blogs, shops and forums.

The 4 TB capacity will be waiting for you to function as local hard disk drive on the go via its revolutionary eTRAYz engine. You will still enjoy the same functions of what is regarded as top advanced Networked attached servers you can find in the market.

Its ease of usage & access, powerful GUI, Jdownloader engine for HTTP downloads from the clipboard, create URL link to any file stored in with a right click of a button , impressive Torrent dowload station ,rapid-share like private gateway coupled with NFS support, Picture sharing and the ability to share and automatically Sync folders with friends
will make the eTRAYz a natural download machine perfect for storage streaming & 1 stop place for sharing your entire media library.

You will be able to have all these function of the eTRAYz Practically anywhere, anytime while you are on the go . The Rapidbox keeps a log of all activity, so when you will come back home you wil be able to keep track and easily find new "surprises" your friends uploaded your device.

All you need is a broadband Internet connection and a home router, the eTRAYz can be in few clicks be set up to provide secure access to all the stored files remotely via the Internet or you local lan, Wirelessly (802.11n) or Wired (10/100/1000 Port).

I have been using magic jack for 10 months. I was using PAP2T till mj disabled it. Now this Etrayz has support for tiny proxy. I am planning on buying this for my media server, since it has router built in and has ipkg support, I am wondering if MJ can work with tiny proxy.

Appreciate all the help

This is NOT a stand-alone PC. It provides no functionality to support MJ.

It obviously does not run any flavor of Windows.

Don't give up on PAP2!!!!!
Good Luck

if it has support to build from source, it will work, just get the mjpoxy c source that is here and make the proxy file. otherwise you need more info as to what it is running.

yes, i think he is saying he had mj running on an ata; which did not work, presumably because he needs a proxy setup and he is asking if his streaming device, which looks like it runs something like dd-wrt can host the proxy, he mentions the ipkg support found in openwrt devices. i assumed from what he wrote he is looking to use his ata device not a windows machine at all. it would come down to if the ipkg for dd-wrt would run on his streaming server, if not he has to find a way to get the source compiled to the kernel on the server and just run the proxy and point the ata to it.

Exactly. That's what I am planning to do, but don't know how. Thanks

I'm sorry but I don't see this device as anything more than a NAS device with a few frills for serving/streaming via web.

The OP's assertion that this device incorporates a router is not borne out by looking at their webpage.
Sorry to appear picky about this because I would leap on a device that combined all the functionality imputed by tho OP. I can't find anywhere where this device is capable of running dd-wrt or any other such ROUTER based software.
Good Luck

One of the forum thread says we can Install tiny proxy. So My question is to make MJ work on ATA we can use any proxy or only MJ Proxy. I believe any proxy should work

Thanks for all the reply.

could not read the thread you pointed out; its for registered users. you have to find out what the unit is running. it has 128 megs of ram and it states 4 megs of flash memory. that more than most routers running dd-wrt; i would guess it is a linux kernel. i don't think any proxy is going to work you need the mjproxy code, which is on the board, (i compiled it for just a regular computer running linux). it is the ipkg that you say is on there that leads me to believe it is a variant of openwrt, so one way or another it is probable you can make it run the proxy, but you would need to check with the company to see exactly what the unit runs on

i took a look again, there was a wiki there about the unit; it runs a 2.6 linux kernel and the source code was there; it shows all of the installed programs and the proprietary programs they use on the kernel. they also talk about modifying the firmware; but my best guess is that if you look in the thread about the mjproxy for the tomato router firmware; someone posted a 'static' version of the proxy, that should be relatively independent of the kernel version and most likely that would work; just transfer that static file and run it and that is your best shot; most routers run on the 2.4 kernel which may or may not be a problem; if so; look in the forums they have to see if someone can mod the firmware for you or compile the small amount of code to run on it; and yes the unit can function as a router; it has dhcp and other router related functions built into the device's firmware.
