Magic Jack Will Not Download/Install On My XP PC

Post by TM-Tech1 »

Help, Magic Jack will not download/install on my Sony xp 2000 pc. I know already that the problem is not caused by the Magic Jack, the problem is in the computer.

I can install the very same magic Jack on my other Dell Insprion 2400 Series xp 2000 pc and Magic works perfect, like a charm....

Using the very same Magic Jack on my wife's Windows 7 pc, Magic Jack works like a charm also....

If any of you guys have a solution as to why Magic Jack will not download/install on one pc, but not the other pc, let me know. Both Xp 2000 pc's, the Sony and Dell are running SP3....

Could be a lot of things. Your firewall settings for one, your Anti Virus program for another. Without knowing what is on your PC and what is running when you are trying to install the MJ, it is hard to tell. It could also be your USB ports. SO many things.
You need to take the time to troubleshoot and eliminate one thing at a time till it installs.
Of course you can always try MJ online tech support as a last resort.

Are you by chance running Nero or Roxio software on the system that is having issues?

You are correct, it could be a lot of things, I will reinstall Windows next week and start all over again. Then I will try to install Magic Jack again with nothing else on the pc....

If you haven't reinstalled yet, a better (yet still lengthy) solution would to keep running system restore points (if you have any), followed by testing the MJ device. If you are able to find one point where the MJ device succeeds, then you should check any and all system modifications made by the SYSTEM RESTORE, followed by removing and identifying the program causing the problem, or w/e is causing it, and KINDLY post it on here, if found. Please note to also DISABLE all A/V and FIrewall, etc, etc, to see if that is a possible solution.

Best wishes
