You list $20, what is that for one month or one year? If per month your to high, I would be better off staying with BroadVoice.
Our plans are to use only few jacks per IP. Our host has set a side a large number of IP addresses for this product. We are also looking at offering dedicated IP addresses for those that don't mind paying more, so that no other jack uses your IP.
The cost is 20.00 a year. I know that kind of doubles the cost of using a Magic Jack but I need to cover time, Bandwidth, IP's and servers. I still feel that is a fair price. We also working on a monitoring solution to insure that your proxy is up at all times. (99%).
If any one wants to help beta it no money will be due up front feel free to contact me.

A few of you made several good points.
The reason why we do need the password is that the proxy requires the password ie. mjproxy 0.0.0.0 507x proxy01.xxxx.talk4free.com 5070 password.
We do not allow users to have shells to run their own proxy as they would be able to access all the mj passwords with a ps -wuax command since that command is available to all linux users and the passwords are ran in clear txt.
If you want we do not need the username and the password but the password is required. Without the username we can not test to make sure you are able to use the service so trouble shooting will be a challenge. Though I can assure you we respect user privacy. WE been in the security industry for over 10 years.
If any one else is still interested in this let me know.
Thanks
Mike

mjproxy is bs software just like the patch for sip.c.
I say this because they represent the worst ways to accomplish the end result. Given the right kind of responses here, I might invoke an EC2 instance to demonstrate the right way to do this.
As I look at the offerings in this forum, I have to totally question why anyone would provide sensitive sip account details. It simply is not necessary for anyone providing proxy service to have your sip credentials if they know what they are doing. PERIOD!
I don't and will not share code here, but I may provide a resource that serves as proving ground. Stay tuned!

Unless you want to re event the wheel you do have to provide password currently. We are not looking at creating new code but to provide a service. If you have negative comments like you do please contact me directly. as I am not hiding the fact to any of the participants about what is required or how it works like you are in your comments.mufon wrote:mjproxy is bs software just like the patch for sip.c.

Most of it is pretty clear but what is "EC2"?mufon wrote:mjproxy is bs software just like the patch for sip.c.

Nice English!. Why are you on a forum that says support if you are not willing to help. According to your post I doubt you need support. You don't and will not share code here
So you are going to release a similar service? Good for you.but I may provide a resource that serves as proving ground. Stay tuned!

Only thing found relating to Ec2 instances is referring to cloud computing. If that is the case that will not make the passwords any more secure then just using magic jack. Nothing will make them 100% secure cause even if you right a custom app you can still sniff the network for the password going out.Buttafuoco wrote:Most of it is pretty clear but what is "EC2"?mufon wrote:mjproxy is bs software just like the patch for sip.c.

You don't need passwords! genxweb, is it the reading or the comprehension that troubles you? Geeeeezz!genxweb wrote:Only thing found relating to Ec2 instances is referring to cloud computing. Buttafuoco, EC2, or "Elastic Compute Cloud" is simply an easy on-demand way of putting up a host.

So you are going to put up hosts and what are the hosts going to use? They still need the proxy. Are you going to give each customer their own host and let them set everything up, then trust they will not install anything else. Are you going to spend countless hours monitoring their usage to make sure your cloud does not become unstable or get used for illegal activities? I know cloud computing is good but you will make not be able to charge enough to cover your costs and time. the amount you will have to charge will turn away your customer base.

You may want to invest some of your profits from this venture in a grammar checker. I will pass on making a warranted adhominem attack and focus on the shortsightedness of your response...genxweb wrote:So you are going to put up hosts and what are the hosts going to use? Your narrow viewpoint surely exposes you as a crass, unimaginative copycat in that you cannot envision any other creative solution beyond that which was dropped into your lap.
Mufon's proven approach to overcoming last summer's 'bump in the road' implemented by MJ, truly exemplifies the aphorism that there are many ways to skin a cat.
Should he deign to expose his handiwork, the only info a tester may be asked to supply is a password of your own choosing, to protect access to the server resources.
Mufon has ideated a solution to the MJ added authentication process in such a way that is uniquely transparent to the user. He is not simply trying to commercialize a solution crafted by others that has been offered freely to the community, as you are attempting.
You should learn to respect your elders and honor your superiors, even if you cannot grasp their wisdom.
Bye
Good Luck

What the???
Good GRIEF! Why all the hate and discontent in this thread? My GAWD, aren't we all in this forum just to discover great new ways to make reliable and cheap phone calls?
It's like some UFO is hovering and beaming down the "Hate and Discontent" lights on some of the folks in here!
