MJK plugged into a CO port on a phone system

Post by mjkbob »

I have a MJK plugged into a CO port on a phone system. It works well if the number is dialed from a phone. However if I dial from the softphone, I get ringing and connection, but the call drops after a few seconds.

My guess is that the system is either waiting for a dial tone, or waiting for you to dial some digits, it then times out and disconnects. You could try a test where you initiate from the softphone, but then quickly dial a few dummy digits from a system phone. The phone system may have a programming option to disable this behavior.

Many Mutiline business phone systems have modular ports for the analog telephone lines, Line 1, Line 2, etc. I have plugged MJK into Line 3, and it works fine if a number is dialed from any phone on the system, but not when dialed from the computer softphone.

I did disable dial tone detection for that line, and that did not make any difference.

I did dial from the softphone and dialed some random digits and the call did not drop. That must be it. Thanks

Now if there was a programming work around.
