MJ Getting me very PO'ed
I just got this thing in.......brand new install of XP SP 3......plug the dongle in.....goes to the pic of the MJ and sits there.....nothing loads up.
Not sure what is going on but I am getting very upset here. Tried it in a buddies system and no issues there....works flawlessly.
Could it be a setting issue within XP? PLease some one post back with some step by step XP settings etc.
Cheers!!

I also have XP SP3 and I've never had a problem. If your PC comes with USB ports in the front as well as in the back, is your MJ plugged into the back (seems to work better that way)?
The only thing I can recommend is to unplug the MJ, restart your PC, after the PC's back up and ready, plug the MJ into a different USB port and see what happens.

You might also take a look at a post I made a while ago, as I had similar problems when trying to get the MJ to work with my XP SP3 system. http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t7695.html . Scroll down the page and you will see my post.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I found that my one file folder did not have the setup file in it. It was actually in another folder so I moved it and got it to work.....UGH!!!!
Well part of my issue was my firewall through my ISP. I turned it off and got it to work flawlessly.
Now I know you have to open up ports which I did and the firewall would not let anything through till I turned it off. Are there other ports besides the ones mentioned on MJ site?

To answer your last post: UDP port 5060 and 5070.
See the FAQ section of the link below, as some very helpful info on the MJ was compiled by users of this forum. I have often refered to this info for a better understanding of how the MJ works with my system and have also found some great troubleshooting tips.

Sounds like you may need more tweaking of your Windows Firewall settings and/or Router settings.
I am not sure which router you use. You might try to "Search" this forum with your router brand listed as the query and see if something specific comes up.
I recall creating an exception in my Windows FW settings, and adding Port Forwarding in my routers settings.
Just checked my FW settings <Control Panel/Windows Firewall> - on main tab my settings are "Firewall On" and "Don’t' Allow Exceptions" is unchecked. Next click your "Exceptions" Tab and add magicJack if you do not already see it. The path is similar to C:\Documents and Settings\ "your user name"\ App Data\mjusbsp\magicjack.exe .
If adding this FW exception does not do the trick it may be that your router needs the ports forwarded. On mine, I logged into my router in IE and used "Port Forwarding" then added Service Name "Magicjack" with a Start Port 5060 and End Port 5070.
Hope this helps!

Fixing ports has not helped me; Incoming calls direct to VM
I have had MJ for about 2 years.
The first year I had MJ the connection was usually broken up, but that was eventually fixed. However, after the first year, I began having a problem with incoming calls. They go directly to voice-mail with no notification. The phone does not ring and there is no longer an e-mail notification about voice-mails.
I have spent countless hours on the chat with tech support. SI mean, over the past year I have spent over 30 hours on tech chat. Sometimes we go over the same procedures, sometimes we undo the procedures, sometimes we do nothing; they tell me to restart and that should fix it, but it doesn't.
I have reconfigured Windows firewall ports, McAfee ports and router ports. I am a virtual PC retard, so they always walk me through, but I still have no success. I am spending more time now checking voice-mails every day than I should have to.
Has anyone else had this problem and how was it fixed? I posted it here because it always goes back to fixing ports.
Thanks.

Mine works ok without opening ports other than 5060 and 5070, but MagicJack uses more than just those.
I did a search and found someone who got his MJ working by opening ports. The ones he opened were...
TCP Ports List: 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS)
UDP Ports List: 5060, 5070, 10000-65535
He notes that this is not the same as port forwarding.

Hello SCFredV, welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you've had more than your share of headaches for sure! I am guessing you've probably already checked for the latest firmware updates for your router and also applied the latest and greatest O/S updates via "Windows Update". I do not know if you have tried these next suggestions previously but thought they may help.
Router - An easy way to determine whether a router is not playing nicely is to bypass it completely. Once the router is out of the loop (internet plugged directly into PC), test the MJ to see if the problem is still there. If it is, then the router is not the culprit.
For your consideration I also wanted to mention this next one. Many folks in this forum have resolved their MJ issues (some sounded identical to yours) by changing their proxy server. This process is technical but not impossible. If interested, please see this reference http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... oxy_Change
Please keep us posted as to your progress and any questions you may have. If you also can let us know which brand router and operating system you use, it would be helpful.
