I Call Great! They Call Bad!

Post by TheImpCo »

This is a thread on my previous query for the forum. (and thanks to those who commented.)

At first I thought the issue was “general” but with a little more experience I discovered this:

When I receive a call I can hear them perfectly but they cannot understand me (chopped/clipped words). HOWEVER, if I call them back our conversation is very normal. Any ideas on this? I’m stumped?!

My web access is 1.5Mbps Down and .48Mbps up

Glad you're making progress. Is your PC portable? Can you try a different ISP, even running a long ethernet cable to a neighbour's or connecting to someone else's wifi? See if you can eliminate your ISP as the problem.

In your other post at http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/half ... t8875.html did you try connecting to other servers? That might be worth a try given the current symptoms. The link in my last post on the other thread points to a site with good step by step instructions.

That would be a good test. I'm not portable and I live in the boonies so neighbors are few and far. Plus most are using the same ISP or on stuff that is slower than plate tectonics. But still might be worth the time to just try it out someplace else.

I did read through your posts, chased the links and dowloaded some new tools (never pass up an opportunity to get more tools.) But given the one sided nature of this issue, I thought it best to ask before I started sawing on the wrong tree, incase some one had an ah haa I should know about.

More Puppy for the pot to ponder

Anoter bit needs to be added. When I receive a call the first minute, and not much more is fine, then it breaks down pretty quick and I have to call back.
