I'm using this list to create DOS batch files to eliminate all but one (DOS route) to see if it helps my problem. I make no claim that this list is current or complete. but as of 4/25/2010 I've been able to isolate MJ to bang on only one proxy at will.

It is a totally trial and error. There are few enough to just cycle through the list and leave one working and see how it plays out and then try another.ksojerio wrote:So, is there any rhyme or reason in selecting which server to use if your city has multiple server choices? In other words, how do you know which one to pick or is it only trial and error?[/i]
The only reason to mess with this process is if you have an issue that might be resolved by taking the time to see if it effects a resolution.
Do a ping test of the IP address associated with a particular proxy server and choose the location with the lowest average round trip time!ksojerio wrote:So, is there any rhyme or reason in selecting which server to use if your city has multiple server choices? Humm? That's a bit sticky. I use a simple DOS batch file. It's not that it's difficult or complex but rather just not where most PC users are comfortable. In addition, you would need to know a few things about your router/current IP adress(s). Nothing super tricky/techy but stuff most folks just aren't bothered by as "Windows" users.notdeadyet wrote:and for this newbie to servers, just how do we go about choosing a different server for MJ;)
It would be irresponsible for me to just post the bat file and hope any/all would know what to do with it . . .and why I only posted the IP addresses in zip code order.
Here are two worthwhile links to study and ponder:

Kool or cool for non-smokers. The DOS bits I use are easy. Read through all the links once (especially if you having trouble sleeping) . . . just get the gist and then holler at me when you are ready for the next bit. The DOS part is easy.notdeadyet wrote:Thanks TheImpCo, I'll check out the sites and see what I can accomplish...I do know the info and such you describe, just not quite sure "yet" on the dos stuff
