how to get started with magic jack

I purchased magic jack and a computer to use it on and I can't figure out how to get an account for it. I get a dial tone but can't dial out. I do not get a key pad. I plugged the magic jack into the computer, it took a while for the blue light to stop flashing. Once it did, I tried the phone and got a dial tone, but I can't dial out. I don't have an account with magic jack yet could this be the problem? How do I do that? Something that is supposed to be so simple sure is confusing.

Try plugging it into a different USB port on your computer. If you have it plugged in the back, try the front, and vice versa.

Try it on a different computer.

Try using a powered USB hub.

If none of those actions bring your MJ to life, you may have been the rare recipient of a defective MJ.

In that case, return it to the place of purchase.

I got the soft pad to show up and yet it never gets to "ready to make a call" I had to get rid of a firewall. Would I have another firewall keeping the magic jack from completing the registration. Every time I go to my.magic.jack.com they just want to sell me something. I am guessing my registration is not complete but I'm not going to buy more time for the magic jack just to get it to work.

Is there anything else I can do?

Mine was like that . I had to do a chat with the MJ service gal and she pointed me to a upgrade site and it installed the software and all was ok after that.

It seems i had disabled autorun on my CD's and it would never install its self.
