[SOLVED] SPA2102 - Verizon inbound calls not ringing?

Yesterday, I installed a SPA2102 with mjproxy running on a linux box (no Asterisk in the mix... yet ), and tested the line with my AT&T iphone. Everything worked, no problems.

Today, however, I've had two people on Verizon cell phones (one local here in the Phoenix area, one in California) tell me they try to call me, and immediately get the "Person is unavailable, leave a message" without any rings on their end. The cordless I have hooked up to the SPA2102 does not ring. Unfortunately, I haven't been monitoring the SPA2102 status page to see what it says when the calls are being made. That's going to be my next personal troubleshooting idea.

I unplugged the SPA2102 and plugged the magicjack usb dongle in and asked the local guy to try again. I saw his call come in (same old annoying popup window on the windows pc with the correct phone number listed).

I can make calls out to those same Verizon numbers without a problem from my ata-connected phone. I've re-verified today that my AT&T iphone can still call in without problem, and it passed with flying colors.

To me, this says either I've got a really weird hardware problem, or Verizon cell phones (maybe landline too) sends things in just enough of a weird way to defeat the SPA2102... Or something else I haven't thought of, because I'm new at this.

Does anyone have any ideas?

(I saw the thread, re land lines and all circuits are busy message; this doesn't seem like that issue for a variety of reasons.. If it is, my apologies)

Solved... It was a configuration problem on my part.

The SPA2102 comes with a ridiculously high re-registration window (It's set for 3600 seconds, but seems to count down from 1800 seconds when a registration happens). That's way way too high for Magicjack. My friends happened to be calling me after Magicjack's servers had timed me out, but before my SPA2102 re-registered.

It was always working for my cell phone because I would make a couple changes, the SPA2102 would reset and re-register, and then I'd immediately call in.

I'm not sure what a good timeout for Magicjack is. I got the value I'm using now from this post : http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/magi ... t5066.html

Crap... I was going to change it up to 871 tonight... Now I'll have to constantly spam their servers with 870 second registrations... Oh what a world!!!

Seriously, though.. Is there a lower threshold at which their servers/admins get annoyed at you?

Searching around for registration led me to the Tomato walkthrough (http://phoneservicesupport.com/tomato-v ... t7055.html).. I didn't bother looking at it earlier, since I don't use Tomato (damn Atheros WISOC based ddwrt router.. no one built mjproxy for that, and I'm too lazy to figure out how to build for it ), but the first post had some screenshots where the author specifically talked about all the NAT keep alive stuff, which I didn't do.

I suppose now that I know what the problem is, I can work different ideas and know when something works or not. Especially if I'm going to add Asterisk into the mix.
