I need to have CID name on handset (don't need 20+ features)

Post by premudriy »

Hello everyone,

I thought that by adding phone numbers to the contact list on the softphone I will get the actual names showing up on physical phone.

Now I found out that it is only possible with MagicFeatures plugin for MagicJack. I do not need all 20+ features. I only need this one thing to work and I would hate to get MagicFeatures just for this single feature.

Are there any other ways to make names show up on the handset without buying any additional stuff?

Without purchasing magicfeatures or using the resistor fix http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/inbo ... -t108.html and adding the names and numbers into your phone there is no other way to get the name and number to reliably show up on the caller id screen. Unless you want to use an ata with MJ and that's a completely different approach.

Thank you for replying, sabresfan. Unfortunately, it now seems to me that I will never be able to achieve my CID goal.

Turns out my Uniden wirelss phone is a complete crap because even after putting names into handset's memory the phone does not associate CID with phone book entries like other normal phones do :-(

I first was hoping that phone will associate the CID with phone book and it didn't. Then I thought that by putting names into MagicJack softphone contacts it will work, but it didn't again.

Ahhhh.....

Why can't MagicJack company implement at least that Contact entries in softphone would show up on handsets? I don't need fancy reverse lookups or anything. Just that.

Does anyone know if such simple feature is being planned to be implemented by default?

For reference, the basic magicJack offering also doesn't support any form of call waiting caller id display on your phone.

Magicfeatures allows for names and numbers (I think 50) to be put into it's address book and it will display on the phones caller id screen. For the $ it's a great investment with MJ and it works. It's the easiest solution to get caller id name and number.

Yeah... I've found that out as well now :-(

I wonder if the author of MagicFeatures can release separate features for smaller price.

If he/she could sell just CID with names from contacts plugin for a buck I'd definitely get it.

I'm a programmer as well and if I could gain access to TigerJet SKD, then I would write this feature myself and I would release it to everyone for free.

Again, apparently TigerJet SDK is not easy to get.

My Uniden phone is strange. The phone is capable of recognizing the CID numbers because I can assign a distinct ringers to contacts. Yet there is no option to show contact name in association with incoming CID. LOL. Why?

Can anyone tell which brands/models of phone are capable of associating phone book names with CID numbers and show them on the screen kind of like most cell phones do?

My Panasonic 2.4 GHz works well for that premudriy. I've seen DECT cordless phones recommended highly here as well.
