want to upgrade HP t5520

Post by Ahkbal »

Hi people,

I have a TC HP T5520 which I bought from Alpman. The TC works great, but some times I have some problems. for example, sometimes I don't hear a dial tone on the phone, or the phone does not ring, or people does not hear me. I just read that upgrading the ram on the TC will work better. My TC only has 128 MB of ram so this might make my TC run slower. I want to upgrade the ram but I don't what kind of memory ram this TC use. I opened the box but still did not find anything related to a memory stick. Here are some pictures. How do I find the memory ram?

I don't believe that the 5520 is upgradeable. Ram is soldered to the board.

Hi public domain,

I just in another post that you bought the same TC from Alpman. How do you use your own TC? Do you get the same errors as me or you found a better way to use it with the low memory ram?

Ahkbal,

When my TC worked it worked fine, I've had other issues with it, mostly related to the microdrives. Alpman pretty much had the 5520 figured out. If you haven't made any changes to it, it should work. Have you tried the MJ on another computer? Some of the issues you mention can be ISP related. In any case let us know what you find out, it might help somebody else in the future.

HI Public Domain,
Well I have not install anything else in the TC than the MJ software, except for a PC auto shutdown, which... well the name says it all. But If I connect the MJ in my main PC which is faster it works pretty well. But with this TC sometimes I have problems like I don't hear a dial tone or if someone calls the phone doesn't ring. What are you using now Public Domain?

That is correct. On a T5520, the ram is soldered to the motherboard. It cannot be upgraded.
