Bad call quality inbound

Hi- lately I've noticed that when I call certain numbers in Canada, the person I've called can hear me, but I get "holes" in the voice quality. It seems to cut out or give me blank spots so that it has a sort of rat-a-tat-tat feeling. It's very hard to understand them.

I think that I am getting these problems only when I call a business, like a bank or some company that has a lot of phones.

I use magicjack for business, so I really need call quality. A speedtest.net test shows:

ping 125ms
download 1.72 Mbps
upload: .20Mbps

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

looking at your upload speed you need qos setup, to make sure u get 1st priority for mj.

I had similar call quality problems, so i got rid of the mj dongle and got a ata (spa 2102) and wrt54gl (ddwrt with mjproxy) setup qos also and thats all. 2 months no quality issues, no delays while talking. Changed to dry loop and cut off my landline.

That was way too technical for me. Where do I establish QoS setup? On my modem? Thanks. Dumb it down a little, ok?

If your router has the option of QOS then you might try turning it on for the mac address that you plug the magicjack into.

I have a gateway 2701HG-T, and it doesn't appear to support QoS.
