Phone can't be heard outgoing but PC mic works

Post by Xkahn »

I have been running Magic Jack for about 11 months now as a background service on my PC. It operated on a split line to a corded phone and a cordless in the kitchen. It has had its share of hiccups, but has performed very well. My bill of $19.95 is due in September and I believe my dongle is not working at 100% more like 50%.

I have been through all the steps with the crappy tech support (where do they get those guys?) who you swear are just AI bots. I have torn apart the system and rebuilt it several times over with one inescapable conclusion...

BUT HEY, let's not toss in the towel just yet. Let's see what you guys think.

Started last Friday the 20th, I lost the ability for people to hear me. One way conversation only, I can hear them they can't hear me. Thank GOD we have another phone system. So I used it to debug the MJ line. The best I came up with was using the PC headset to place a call and you can hear me on that. I tested the phones using the other line and they both work fine. My wife said the line had static on Thursday... So the problem is the USB dongle right?

At this point I don't want to pay on a broken system, so I might as well buy a new dongle. Unless you guys know something I don't.

Ok remember, PC working fine, headset works, both phones are just great, but I can't use them to talk to people since they can't hear me.

Opinions?

You might find this amusing, but I didn't...

Jan: Hello, how may I help you?

Gene: I think my statement said it all.

Jan: May I know your specific concern please?

Gene: Since your "upgrade" I and other XP users have service issues. The people I call cannot hear me. When I plug the dongle into my wife's laptop (running Vista) it works. My desktop runs XP and doesn't work. I cannot and will not use Vista. My service with you will run out next month and I will not renew unless the problem is solved. I was on here with a tech before and he was no help with this issue.

Jan: May I have your magicJack phone number please?

Gene: xxx545xxxx

Jan: Thank you.

Jan: Is your magicJack currently plugged into your computer?

Jan: Are you still there?

Gene: NO it is not and that is not my point. I am a certified technician, I know what the problem is >>YOUR UPGRADE<< has killed my system. I spent 45 minutes to an hour chatting with the last tech and he managed to nothing but crash my system during chat. Since then I unplugged the dongle and removed the software. I am not here to spend another hour or more debugging what I have already debugged. Your recent upgrade is messed up I need a downgrade to whatever you had before this past week.

Jan: I completely understand what you feel right now Gene and I am here to help you out on your concern.

Jan: I will do my best to help you out on your issue.

Jan: Please wait as I review your previous chat to better assist you.

Jan: Please allow me to inform you that the latest updated has been given to all magicJack. You can no longer retrieve the old one Gene for it has been changed now.

Jan: Is the magicJack plugged in to the computer right now?

Gene: I told you no, are you some kind chat bot?

Jan: Please plug it in so that we can do fix your magicJack.

Kyle: HI, Gene.

Gene: I have been through all the steps with the last tech support. I am not tearing apart the system again ... your software upgrade is faulty.

Kyle: Please wait while I check that for you

Kyle: Is the MJ plugged in right now?

Gene: No Kyle it is not, I will stress this once again. The software CRASHES my XP SP3 system... I tried it on my wife's Vista and it works just fine, but I cannot run it on her machine since that is a laptop and cannot run 24/7. Do you understand or are you just another AI bot like Jan?

Kyle: Would you like us to log onto your computer remotely and resolve this issue for you? If yes, I will transfer you to a higher level of support that will take care of this for you.

Gene: No Kyle Bot goodbye tell your programmers you need to be deleted your response time is far too fast to be human and you don't have memory recall as we humans do. Thank you.

Kyle: Please wait while I check that for you
WTF?

Ok so they use Bots as techsupport.... it figures.
