No dialpad menu - Using TC HP T5710
I have been running MJ fine for past year on my thin client HP T5710 up until today. All of sudden no dial tone. Come to find out MJ released an update. Well, my screen says:
"Downloading, updated, Lucky You..installing" then the MJ icon disappears. The phone dialpad never appears.
I tried:
1) Running mjRemover.exe - removed it
2) Installed update.exe manually - same thing - and still no dialpad
3) FORMATTED my entire HP 5710 - logged in as admin, Plugged in MJ- downloaded and still NO DIALPAD
4) Tested USB MJ in another PC - installs fine and dialpad appears
So Im stuck now.. Why is the dialpad not appearing anymore on my TV HPt5710?? Running @ 800MHz/256/256

You've actually run out of hard disk space and the Magicjack update never completes.
I doubt very much if you'll be able to pare down embedded Windows to the point where you do have enough room for the update to finish installing. A fully installed new version of Magicjack takes about 65 to 75 megs of space after the installation is finished.
No way with 256 total space. At least none that I know of.
So far the only choices you have are to purchase at least 512 meg of flash hard drive or run it on a different machine.
I'd love to be wrong but so far, nothing found anywhere in the way of a sloution.

I bought my HP T5710 from ebay with XP already installed and MJ software too. It looked like it was modified so it will fit.
Hmmm. So maybe the new update was too large for the 256MB? Ah man. I hope there is a way I can make it fit without bumping to 512MB.
I did get a 'low disk space' message so you might be right.
Im re-installing XP embedded for a second time. Ill see how much space I have free.

I got mine from eBay, too. I emailed the seller and asked him what he was going to do with his remaining stock and I think he has quite a few still for sale. I advised him he can no longer advertise them as "Magicjack ready"
His response?
We just sale (sic) them, we don't support them.
Nice.
Absolutely stripped down I have 65 gb free, still not enough.

Can you tell me what you use when you reformat and reinstall XP on the thing.
I have tried every version of the OS from HP's site out there. I tried all the versions back to 2004. I have removed everything possible.
I can free up 90 MB, but once I install MajicJack, it drops down to 5 MB and says low space. I now can get the dialpad up and it does make calls via the dialpad only.
No calls work from my phone at all. I suspect its due to low disk space.
This is horrible! So the latest MJ update now makes the 256MB models useless.
How do I install this? Is it just by unplugging the 256MB card and replacing it with the 512MB card?
512MB IDE Flash Module (44-Pin Horizontal)
Mike - I downloaded the Image from here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Te ... de=4&idx=2
Once downloaded, it asks you to insert a USB key and click FORMAT. It will install the image on the USB key. Once done, connect the USB key to the 5710 and it will boot from USB key and install the image.

Thanks very much, I've done it and it seems to have worked. Next step is to get the 512 module.nitemare wrote: How do I install this? Is it just by unplugging the 256MB card and replacing it with the 512MB card?

There is a faint odor of success in the air.
Just finished testing that image and still dont work. I get a dial tone on the phone, but it will not dial any #'s. The dialpad dials fine, just not phone. I installed magicJack on my spare desktop and it works fine with the phone.
So.,..after hours and hours..the latest MJ Update is too big for 256MB. I am placing an order for 512MB for $16 shipped at amazon.com.

Well, I ordered the 1 gb module for 5 bucks more. Software tends to grow in size exponentially over time.
When I built my first PC clone about 25 years ago, a friend gave me a single 360K double density 5 1/4" floppy boot disk with Dos, Lotus 123, and Wordstar on it.
Oh well. We've come a long way.
I'm sure it has occurred to you that, if it was possible to change MJ's default installation directory, we could simply put in a USB memory stick and run it from there. But I have found no way to change MJ's defaults.
As I said, we've come a long way.

I have a 5710 with 512 MB flash and 256 MB ram. My MJ worked fine until the last upgrade. The error I was getting was not enough virtual memory. I discovered that the default setting in the XPe image is for no paging file. I had 245 MB left on the flash drive and set that entire amount as the paging file. Now MJ works, although a little choppy. I think with a larger flash drive and a larger paging file MJ might work like it did before. I don't know what magicjack did in the upgrade but there is definitely something amiss.

This will solve your 256 meg unit without having to buy the overpriced 512meg unit and do a reload.
will require a usb stick of your choice on the size. I bought a 2 gig stick at frys for about 4 bux.
Which image are you using? Im not having any issues after formatting to 5.1.336 Rev. A (26 Jun 2007) image, upgraded to 512MB Flash, 256 ram. Sounds like a format is in order and different version XPe OS?maine-iac wrote:I have a 5710 with 512 MB flash and 256 MB ram. My MJ worked fine until the last upgrade.
