Small Phone Wanted

Post by modraker »

Is there a really small telephone that I can use when I travel with my magicJack?

This was being touted on the forum at one time but I believe the reviews were mixed. Pro: small, light, easy to carry; Con: cheaply made, not very durable.

I've never used one so I can't speak with authority. BTW, that was one of a number of sites selling it. Innovage Phone is what you would search for.

I looked into that phone and I saw so much negative reports, I passed on it. I went to my local Walmart and bought their cheapest corded phone. It was under $10.00. It was half decent but no call display. Although you have the soft phone. Any headset will work with your computers sound. Last Sept, I used the phone in my hotel room. It worked without a problem. I travelled to Netherlands last July and used a USB phone that I had used for Skype. It is probably the smallest you'll find that works.

Well, IMO

I DON'T recommend the Innovage Phone. I purchased 4 new units at my local Walgreens, or somesuch, and the first two didn't work at all. Judging from that, I returned all of them.

Enjoys a daily VOIP cocktail made from:

-One shot Magic Jack
-One shot TK6000
-One shot NetTalk Duo
-Two shots Ooma (it's bigger)

Shaken, not stirred.

Google Voice is the chaser.

That looks pretty cute. I had one similar years ago, but lost it, and I have no idea what happened to it. I've been looking for it for a couple years now, since I got the mJ. Seems cute for $3.68.

I have one of these micro phones and tried it with MJ. It worked, but the call quality at both ends was awful so abandoned it after the first test. If you just need something to call home to say you arrived, it'll work. But other than tolerant family, it's not usable.

For the ultimate in small "phone" would a bluetooth earpiece work for you. You would have to use the softphone for dialing, but you would have better call quality than using the laptop's mic and speakers. See the last thread here for tips http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/blue ... t5873.html

The smallest usable phone I found to work with MJ is a GE slimline phone. It's about $9 CDN on sale. About $14CDN for the version with caller ID display. The sound quality is great and it's a sturdy phone.

use motel phone

Post by utguy88 »

I was in my motel room the other day, and just unhooked their phone, and plugged it into my MJ; worked fine. When done, I just plugged it back into their wall jack.

Heck, even Wal-Mart has a cheap $5 Emerson phone you can use.
