Slow start up

Post by cell14 »

Since the last update. It takes much longer to start (on Vista) and often does not start up at all and I have to do it manually. Any experience with this ?
BTW, anyone knows what this means(popped up today and it took a reboot to get rid off the window)
"Congratulations, you were fortunate enough to receive the latest magicJack hardware. We are catching up with the magicJack software and will release an upgrade by the end of the month.

To continue, insert your magicJack into a USB port on your computer, then click the magicJack icon."
Needles to say, I have not received any hardware.
On the up side, the start up window uses now a green bar instead of the black vertical strips.

The only time I get that message if if I don't plug my MJ dongle into a USB port. If you look closely JUST BEFORE you get that message your softphone will say MAGICTALK and not MAGICJACK.
So if you are getting that it tells me your PC is not seeing your MJ dongle as being inserted in your USB port. Sometimes one just needs to unplug and replug it back in for all to be ok. IF you are using the small extension cord which came with your MJ, don't as it can cause many problems. Also try to use a rear USB port as it does make a difference.

That is not just that. Yes that happens too from time to time .WEhen you click on your desktop icon you get the message to insert the MJ Then you just pull it out for a second and bac k in; usually it needs a manual start up in this case.
This thing came out of nowhere and I never had it before( soon 2 years with MJ )

No that message JUST started after the MJ 2.0 update in preparation for the MagicTalk rollout SUPPOSEDLY this month. It makes sense for them to use the same softphone for both........
