No files on MJ drive
I had the same problem I normally do ("you must plug in MJ") and did what I normally do...... formatted the drive just as the FAQ's state. THIS time however, NOTHING comes up (no auto start). I check in "my computer" and it shows the drive as "F: Phone". No files on the drive (I enabled show hidden files). I've run the upgrade countless times to no avail. I have searched here and cannot find anything that addresses this. Before I submit myself to the torture of using chat, is there something else I can try first? The same condition on several computers (all XP)...... one that has never seen a MJ before.

Re: No files on MJ drive
After the "Lucky You" update around March of this year MJ disabled the flash drive built into the MJ ( in fact the new version of the dongle has none) the update also moved OUR contacts to THEIR servers. So you are not doing anything wrong as this is now how the MJ drives are seen.slowride wrote:I had the same problem I normally do ("you must plug in MJ") and did what I normally do...... formatted the drive just as the FAQ's state. It is "somewhat" normal ( I think it even says so on the MJ site to unplug the dongle once a month)) to have to unplug and then plug in your MJ from time to time, but not ALL the time. I notice I have to do that maybe once a month or so and this is the way it has been for 2 years now

It's as I wrote in the first post.
Plugged it in, got the "plug in MJ" message. Formatted the MJ drive then ran the upgrade. That "plug in" splash is the last sign of MJ I've seen. No autorun when it's plugged in, no "magicjack" description in the drive designation, just F:Phone. It was last weekend this occurred.

Have you tried the MJ on a different PC? Have you tried a different USB port, IN THE REAR if possible as it does make a difference. Have you removed the short extension cord which came with the MJ? It is worthless and causes many problems.slowride wrote:It's as I wrote in the first post.

Does the MJ's blue light come on?
Just a few things to try including maybe a POWERED usb hub.
This last update really messed up MANY MJ's in different ways.
You can also try getting the MJ removal tool at their web page and then let the update run again or d/l it from the MJ site and install it manually.

I have tried it on several computers (all XP) and the problem and symptoms are the same. I tried it on one brand new HP that never had MJ on it, and nothing.... no setup, no autorun, nothing. Yes, the blue light is on. This particular MJ was on the original computer for months on the same USB port, but I tried it on other ports as well. Nothing.

Then if it follows your MJ dongle with the EXACT same problem, logic and common sense tells me your MJ dongle has gone bad..slowride wrote:I have tried it on several computers (all XP) and the problem and symptoms are the same. You can try contacting online MJ chat and see if you can get a replacement. If you buy a new one be sure to contact MJ online chat prior to plugging in your new unit so they can give your new unit the same phone # as your broken one

Slowride, Can you tell me how did you format the MJ's flash drive ?
You can try the following fixes
Unplug the Jack,wait 30 seconds
Press and hold the shift key depressed while plugging in
Release the shift key after 30 seconds of plugging in.
Click on Cancel of autoplay if you get any
Then you can locate 2 drives of MJ and can format the flash drive.
After that you can try to run upgrade .
If the Jack still doesn't work then go to the following location and try to run the setup.exe/mjsetup.exe manually.
For XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name ]\application data\mjusbsp\in00000
In mjusbsp you will see several folders like in0000 , ug0000 and ar0000.
Double click on setup file from there .
For vista/7 go to
C:\Users\[username ]\appdata\Roaming\mjusbsp\ar0000
Plz post reply if it works

Happy to help you !
I have this same problem. Ive tried the repair tool (says that it can't find my MJ files etc) I've tried formatting the usb device, and upgrading. I've used the mjremover and then put the usb back in and upgraded again.bitstopjoe wrote:So explain to us here exactly what problems you are having?slowride wrote:I would like it to actually work though.
Did they start about 2 weeks ago after MJ had their MAJOR update??

Nothing. This last patch destroyed MJ from running on my pc at all. I have windows 7.
