Memory Error Issue
When I shutdown or restart Windows 7, I get a "The instruction at 0X..... referenced memory at 0X..... The memory could not be read." I then have to click on OK to finish the shutdown/restart process. With each subsequent error message the memory address referenced changes. It gives the message saying it happens when trying to shut down magicJack, and sure enough, unplugging the magicJack takes the error message away. I have un and re installed the software to no change. It's been going on for about a week. Is this the start of my magicJack melting down, or something else catastrophic starting? My limited knowledge tells me a memory error is not something to be happy about, but the magicJack is working OK.

Well, yea. Stopping the process and unplugging MJ stops the error from popping up when I reboot. But plug the MJ back in, reboot and the error is back. There must be some underlying issue that I would like to and assume I probably need to get resolved.pbjandfritos wrote:Hello,
I suggest that when you shut down your computer to end the Magic Jack process in task Maniger and unplug.
Hope this tip helps.

Hell no. Just because you HAVE to do that doesn't mean it is the right way.pbjandfritos wrote:It's a good idea to boot up with the MJ unplugged and waight until you get to the desktop. Then plug it back in. That's what I do all the time.

I never take my MJ out and boot fine every morning. IF and ONLY if my MJ is not seen via the USB port then I take it out and plug it back in. I have to do that MAYBE once every 2 months or so..

Re: Memory Error Issue
Well, not to be too obvious, but every once in a while Windows gets lucky and spews forth an error message that accurately states the problem. First place to check (or have checked by a qualified person) when you get continuing memory errors is the actual physical ram. You can do it by swapping a module with a known good one or removing one if there is more than one in the system. Continue the process until you have either eliminated the error or tried all possible combinations.nailgunner wrote:When I shutdown or restart Windows 7, I get a "The instruction at 0X..... referenced memory at 0X..... Re: Memory Error Issue
Thanks for the suggestion, but that "ain't" gonna happen. A windows 7 support forum suggestion has me checking the memory for errors and it all looks good. This is a new enough machine that I don't plan on opening the box and swapping modules especially since I have no "spare" modules sitting in my drawer. I guess if I get a memory error from something other than MagicJack I'll get concerned, but I'm more inclined to replace my $40 piece of crap since my year is almost up. Thanks again for the input.mikefahy wrote:Well, not to be too obvious, but every once in a while Windows gets lucky and spews forth an error message that accurately states the problem. I have multiple problems since i renewal magicjack. I let it laps a few months before i did the renewal. All of this was working fine before i let it laps. My 911 has not turn green in over a month, when i call magicjack from my cell phone it says the number you dial is not a working number, i had a friend call and he said my MJ was busy lol. When i try and call my home phone number from MJ it is busy lol. The MJ Tech had me uninstall MJ and reinstall it but with out much luck. But there are numbers that does work with MJ when i call out. I am useing Windows 7 and Vista. Vista does the same thing. Except vista doesn't have the memory problem like windows 7

OK, not quite sure what that has to do with a memory error message when I shut down...but OK.Alphamale wrote:I have multiple problems since i renewal magicjack. The fine folks at Windows 7 forum gave this a shot. My memory has "apparently" checked out OK. In the end, the final advice was to quit using the MagicJack. My year is up in about 2 months so unless anyone has any other suggestions I will probably renew early and get a new device to be on the safe side.
