Caller trying to leave message cut off after a few seconds

Post by pamfuchs »

I've only had magic jack a week and still playing around with it. Anyone have this problem? I can call my magic jack number from another phone and leave a fairly lengthy message, then call back 2 minutes later and get cut off after leaving a message for only 3 or 4 seconds; I hear something like "thank you for your call" and then am disconnected. I thought I wasn't speaking loudly enough but tried again and that is not the problem. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it lets you talk and when it doesn't. Any experience with this problem? Any fix/workaround?

I read someone said "for $20 a year I'll live with it". I feel that way about many MJ things but not about this one. Getting cut off when leaving a message is ALWAYS annoying.
Thank you.

P.S. I saw a message Amy posted in February 2010 but I think she was talking about a LIVE caller (not voice message) being cut off after 30 seconds. Did that problem ever get resolved?

I just tried it and I was able to leave a lengthy message both times in a row. You may need to have MJ support reset your account to see if that helps.

Same here in Canada

Magic Jack has a allot of frigging issues here in Canada. Can't call the Federal Government toll free numbers which is the only way of contacting them in most cases. Cannot call toll free numbers at all in Canada, we can call the white house toll free number just so happens to be the same number to Elections Canada. What a crock. I had big conversation with a woman and told her to alarm the president that Canadian Magic Jack customers are gonna harass the switchboard until they get after the Magic Jack company. I even demanded I speak with the president! It was funny, she eventually forwarded my call to a voice mail and I sung O' Canada!

Try this.. It is the ONLY thing I have ever contacted MJ support for.
Go to their online chat and ask them to reset your VM. Don't let them tell you, you need to do this or that. ALL you want done is to have your VM reset. After they do that you will have to log back into it and make a new outgoing message. Also your password will be set back to default, 1 2 3 4.
Then have someone call and leave you a message and see if it works..

Not sure how you feel about spending another $10, but you can install magicringforever from pcphonesoft and start using your home answering machine instead of the magicjack voicemail into email.
