It seems like the uploaded file is corrupt.
I renamed the file CSipSimple_0_001233mjmd5_apk to CSipSimple_0_001233mjmd5.apk, that will save you a couple of minutes, while copying it to your sdcard and install it.
However, when trying to install from sd card, I get the following error message:
when I try through adb, I get:

Great,
The updated file did install. I'll post my comments as I try it out and as I discover the features or come up w. recommendations.
Fixed version here, works on 2.2 (Froyo), and, according to trabso, also on 2.1:
http://www.mediafire.com/?hu818ivkyk5e3xs
Anyway, a real breakthrough! And, a more elegant solution than to have MJMD5 running as a separate app "in the background".
I tried it out as soon as I got home and, so far, both of my numbers work. The sound was OK, but somewhat crackled on my end, but nothing serious. No major latency issues.
Attention: make sure all your other MJ devices are disconnected; ATA's, dongles, PBX's, softphones etc. MJ does not, unlike some other carriers, support multiple devices connected to the same user acct.
I've entered credentials for 2 MJ's - that's a nice feature, multiple MJ's on the same device! - There's a button to activate or deactivate each account.
The password is 20/21 characters, make sure you type it in correctly right away, since it's encrypted character by character. Also make sure to use capital letters; MJ is case sensitive.
If it would be possible to see the full password before saving, it would be nice.
There is some more setup to be made: Use the Menu, in Settings, go in under "Easy configuration" and check mark "I'm allowed to use GSM". (I have CDMA (Sprint), but that doesn't make a difference.) Why I believe you need to be rooted.
Further, under Network you need to set the UDP port resp the TCP port (just in case) to 5070, default is 5060. I also set the RTP port starting range to 10,000 (I believe MJ uses range 10,000 - 30,000). Strangly, it worked on 5060 the first evening, but I had no connection in the morning.
Another feature I would love to have is to be able to use the gmail contact list, so I would not have to type in the number to dial. It somehow does, since when connecting the call it show the persons name, number and avatar. But, I haven't found the feature, if it would be possible to call through the list. (There is a setting: Integrate w. Android that is check marked, but it only seem to work half the way.)
I also have 4G (WiMax) on my cell (on the street only, unfortunately not in my flat:( Cambridge, MA). But, unfortunately CSipSimple does not work with 4G, or at least not WiMax (Sprint & Clear), I cannot test LTE (Verizon & ATT) is it even rolled out anywhere? - I tested other software (aSip, Linphone & SipDroid) with my other accounts (NetTalk, GV* & Whistlephone) I got them to work there, but not in CSipSimple, only with 3G. It would be really nice to have this feature, which would most likely improve the call quality.
*routed through sipgate
Thanks,
arc

Unmark the check box under; Menu / User interface / Dialer integration - not tested since I didn't have the issue myself, but the explanation of this check box is: "When dialing with native dialer you'll be asked if you want to use SIP or mobile."

In Menu - Media - Media quality - the option state: "Quality of the media stream (modify only if you know what you are doing)"
I suggest you search this on CSipSimple's website:
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/
I found this, improvements in the works;
We're just as new at this as you are. Please report back if you find any "goodies", and by respect to developer and to Spider210:

Also, Spider210 mentioned he had improved the sound quality by increasing the clock rate to 32KHz, feel free to try it out: Menu - Media - Clock rateWhat steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Make a call to an echo server.
2. Talk in short words, and in longer sencences.
3. Listen the change of level and quality of returned voice.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Level and quality of the sound should be constant over time.
Instedad, the first half-second of speech is overmodulated to the level of unintelligibility. As you speek constantly, the level becomes lower and the speech undestandable. After a pause, sound becomes overmodulated again.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I first noticed it in .12-26 I think, after I skipped several previous versions. The problem persists as of .12-32. I have VAD on, echo cancellation on. Android 2.2 on HTC Desire. Codec in use is Speex 8k.
Please provide any additional information below.
I am sure that things did change. The sound was all right sometime about version .12-19, then I was on vacation, and when I returned and upgraded to .12-26 I noticed this problem (I did not make any other changes). The problem is bad enough for the people to whom I speak to start complaining.

Ok, probably due to the fix I did for GalaxyS and all alsa implementation. It should probably be tweaked a little bit to ensure there is no loss in media quality.
In worse case, I'll revert this part of code for all HTC devices that support direct and safe access to micro buffer.
We're just as new at this as you are. Please report back if you find any "goodies", and by respect to developer and to Spider210:
Thanks for the info about your carrier. It confirms that this work both with GSM and CDMA.We would like as much feedback as possible so please feel free and post your feedback here

Glad to hear it is working for you guys!!! Any problems anyone noticing?
This is going to be a hit, I'm glad I got you guys to test it out! I'm soo excited that I can use an app right on my phone without having to run mjmd5 separately!
If you have any suggestions, I will try to get them incorporated and update a new version.
Many thanks to the dev of this app!
Any bugs/glitches/requests , post them here and I'll see what we can do

So far, I have five features I'd love to see in the next release:
- 4G support
- integration with Googles contact list - multistep w. native phone
- G711 (µLaw) codec - highest bit rate is speex 32kHz
- possibility of adding prefix on account level
- enter password in clear text, until saving - minor, only initial setup
As for improvements:
- the sound quality is OK, but not excellent. I don't know if it has to do with the codecs available, or simply tweaking, but so far that's a minor issue. But, I have opted for better sounding software for my other Sip accounts.
But also for other reasons;
- aSip - possibility to auto add prefix globally - NetTalk# has to be typed 1-xxx, but global setting, codec G711 (µLaw), support 4G, best call quality, contact integration.
- Linphone - also prefix, support 4G, contact integration, clear password but only single sip provider
- SipDroid - hell of a setup to make GV work (pbxs, sipsourcery, sipgate), single sip provider, but feature rich, support 4G & prefix, contact integration, video call - latency issues, but might be the chain causing this.
- 3CXPhone - codec G711 (µLaw), contact integration
- Fring - currently testing, contact integration, single sip provider, No VoIP settings but credentials.
- NetDIAL - currently testing, buggy, possibility to auto add prefix individually, codec G711 (µLaw), contact integration.
- IMSDroid - currently testing, connection issues
as for others, I uninstalled them right away if there was no 3G support, or if not compatible with my phone.
But, among the positive things I have stated above, this is the only Android working software with MJMD5 support.
Great thanks to Regis Montoya and his crew, and to Spider210 who pushed for it to happen.
But, maybe most to the developers of MJMD5: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/they ... t9753.html

This last issue is probably a setting on your phone, not in the sip application.

The issue that the sound dies off after about a minute is known to the developer and they are working on fixing this in the next release.
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/iss ... ?id=211#c0
Anyway,the developer states:
And, for being an alpha version, I think it works darn well.

for the loudspeaker working instead of the front speaker,i think it is a samsung vibrant issue with sip apps. Does anyone
know how to fix it?
I have a samsung i9000 vibrant with fido.
This is really a problem as there is a lot of echo because of the sound is loud from back speaker and the mic hears it and transmits an echo.

Hi guys,
Just to notify you about the new version :
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/downloads/list
0.00-12-33. (more up to date from the -33-mjmd5 that was distributed here).
All future release with include support for magic jack. I'll also release my source code that allow mjmd5 authentication method in pjsip (which is a sip stack used in many softphones).
I deeply advise you to report your comment/bug report on the google code issue page : http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/issues/list .
You'll find many of the bugs evoked here.
For example :
* For samsung galaxy S speaker :
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/iss ... ail?id=145
When editing your magic jack account, press menu > filters. And you'll enter a powerful tool that allow you to rewrite phone number (when dialed from native dialer). It will also allow you to ignore some phone number or force other to be called using sip instead of GSM.
Btw, android contact integration is already available, when you clic on make call on a contact and CSipsimple is configured to be able to make call with your current connection, it will give you the choice (or not if configured to not) to place call using CSipSimple. It is "make call" and not the sipdroid's hack "SMS"
.

I repeat, would be better if you report your bugs or enhancement idea on the google code website. I'll be more reactive

You should try last version. Changing codec from speex to PCMU (g711) or ILBC (if you have a recent android device) will make things really better.- the sound quality is OK, but not excellent. Sorry about the confusion regarding G711/PCM got stuck on that 8kHz:
Given that CSipSimple does not have all features I'm looking for;
- issues using TCP instead of UDP (might be my settings, but pbxes register in UDP, but not in TCP)
- not operating in 4G unlike Linphone, aSip, SipDroid, NetDial and maybe also Fring and IMSDroid.
I need to have more than one Sip phone installed, why the use of contact integration becomes more involved than it should be.
Though, all in all this app has more features than all the others, and I really enjoy it. I'm just spoiled;)
Thanks,
Great work,
arc
Also, I missed calling up the filter menu. This one is really nice! Allows for short local numbers, in addition to add on the 1 in front of a 10-digit phone#, or replacing the + with international 011- and more.G.711 is the international standard for encoding telephone audio on an 64 kbps channel. It is a pulse code modulation (PCM) scheme operating at a 8 kHz sample rate, with 8 bits per sample. According to the Nyquist theorem, which states that a signal must be sampled at twice its highest frequency component, G.711 can encode frequencies between 0 and 4 kHz. Telcos can select between two different varients of G.711: A-law and mu-law. A-law is the standard for international circuits.

Though, all in all this app has more features than all the others, and I really enjoy it. I'm just spoiled;)
Thanks,
Great work,

This is a common misunderstood of the network setting interface. For now I put everything in interface without really ordering things and explaining it.arcadia2uk wrote: - issues using TCP instead of UDP (might be my settings, but pbxes register in UDP, but not in TCP)
In Settings > Network > Udp / tcp and ports, all of this stuff are used for *LOCAL* binding. This means that it has nothing to do with the way it will register on the server. You should *always* left both udp and tcp activated. And udp/tcp port has no impact on you registrar port.
In fact, TCP/UDP and their ports (as you are thinking about) are *ACCOUNTS* settings. So it has to be setup in the account interface !!
For example the magicjack wizard already setup udp port to 5070 for the account. That's the reason why you can set udp port to everything you want in Network settings your magicjack account will register!
If you want an account to use TCP, you have to use the Advanced or Expert wizard. And then check the "Use TCP box". (You can quickly change the wizard of an account by pression menu > choose wizard).
However, TCP configuration is not yet fully stable. Sometimes it can goes in registration loops and then break completely the sip stack.
Just a question, have you authorized 3G in settings? If yes, could you send me logs. See on googlecode about how to proceed to send me logs.arcadia2uk wrote: - not operating in 4G unlike Linphone, aSip, SipDroid, NetDial and maybe also Fring and IMSDroid.

I will send a few logs to your site regarding various instabilities, later on tonight.
Filters:
I can make calls on NetTalk (provider) w. 10-digit US-calling having the "1" auto-assigned. When I do the same thing on Jumblo (provider), having "001" auto-assigned, it does not work. Could this have something to do with the 0's ? - Resolved - My mistake; the feature is working with the native dialer, contact list or not, with the internal (UI) dialer, you dial exactly what you type.
4G:
I have connection while with 3G, but as soon I connect with 4G the accounts won't register anymore. An error message is saying "Selected network route not available (activate WiFi or change preferences to use 3G)" Could this have something to do with IPv4 resp. IPv6 ? - Resolved - Solution posted on the projects issue list #137 on 9/25. The app supports 4G as of version 0.00-12-36-NotAlsa.
TCP:
With pbxes I can register using UDP, but when I use the checkbox "Use TCP (not UDP)", the color stays orange "Registering.." for a while and the turn to Red "Error while registering - Service Unavailable". Ooops, all of a sudden it registers no changes made, compared to earlier tests, I have just checked and unchecked the TCP checkbox... although, in between I updated the PRI on the phone, could that have been it?, anyway I had it working with SipDroid even before the update. Weird...
Now back home, and TCP service unavailable again... Could this require more specific settings in "Register timeout" resp. "Keep-alive intervall" ? currently 1800 resp. 40 - Resolved - This works in the later releases of CSipSimple.
Thank you, as a result of all issues quickly resolved by the developer I now only need one VoIP client: CSipSimple.
and if you like the product, don't be shy. Donate:D http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/wiki/Donate

Failing to register on either of my Magicjacks, Have the SIP and server along with password, one gives me password of : LOGOMAGICJACK4DIALOG
The first time it gave me a proper password but no server, so I ran MagicSipac_1.2 again and it gave me server but the password is now :
LOGOMAGICJACK4DIALOG
I have 2 magicjacks 1 from a few years ago and a new one that has a Canadian # registered to it. The USA one is the one that gives me that password, anyways none them register on my rooted/unlocked Galaxy S w/2.1 on Bell Canada, not sure if they allow voip over 3G either.

This is most likely due to your credentials, instead of using MagicSipac, try using MJSIP:
http://www.digitaloffensive.com/2010/06 ... retrieval/
It's somewhat more involved, but apparently the method you are using are showing you false positives.

I have a Samsung Moment (m900) and the speaker phone is always on. It doesn't matter if I toggle the speaker button on the screen. The "speaker off" icon is also being shown on the status bar at all times.
Other than that, this is a great app. It is the only one I've ever gotten to work with my phone.

It's most likely the same issue mentioned earlier. It has to do with the odd way Samsung coded their device.
r3gis wrote:I deeply advise you to report your comment/bug report on the google code issue page : http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/issues/list
You'll find many of the bugs evoked here.
For example :
* For samsung galaxy S speaker :

r3gis wrote:Seems that there is something samsung did strangely with speakerphone/earpiece routing.
If you disable ringer (set phone to vibrate for example) it will goes through earpieace.
But... if you activate speakerphone, you'll never be able to switch back to earpiece (which is coherent with the fact when the phone rings, then sound goes through speaker).

Galaxy S speakerphone issue fixed, "sort of"
according to the latest release log for latest dev build 0.00-13-02:
http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/dow ... k&can=2&q=
Apparently it does
- backup your settings w. i.e. Titanium Backup (they will/might be lost during the uninstall)
- uninstall current version of CSipSimple w. i.e. Android Mate
- install new downloaded version
- restore your settings from the backup
I don't know if this mean that the problem for the Galaxy S users is resolved, I suggest you try it.Log message
* PlanetPhone wizard
* BT for 2.2.1
* Reset timeout when clicking on dialpad key
* Galaxy S speakerphone issue

Apparently it does
Important notes when using developer builds:Well.
I had some time with a galaxy S to test on... And pleased to announce that I found a way to solve this problem.
However it's more a hack than a clean way... but seems to work on the phone of my colleague (galaxy S with official current ROM).
However, there is still something strange with earpiece volume. It's really loud...even if I reduce volume using volume buttons - however the setting in Setting > Media > Speaker amplification does the trick.
So 0.00-13-02 available on download section (remember to uninstall if using market version).
I'm also interested with what do you think about micro media quality. I've -once again- refactored the audio driver in order to find a good way that works on all devices.

I updated to latest developer build 0.00-13-02, make sure it really updates, if you have a market version it's not auto, but you have to uninstall first - also make sure to backup your settings, they might be wiped out.
My settings are
Meny/Media/Codecs - I deactivated all codecs but "PCMU 8 kHz" - press long on codec and select deactivate
Menu/Media/Clock rate - I have it on 44.1KHz
otherwise everything set to default.
I haven't had any major issues since deactivating the codecs, but all my calls have been less than 5min.

This must have to do with your phone settings. I also have an evo, but I don't experience any the issues you're describing.
Have you tested if this is not a hardware issue?
What caller are you using? Normally, it works better with the native caller than the UI caller inside CSipSimple.
However, I just noticed that in the latest developer version there is a setting under Menu/Settings/User interface/Keep awake while on call (fixes if you get choppy sound when screen turn off while in WIFI call)
Also, what Android version are you on? Try upgrading to 2.2 aka Froyo.
My evo is rooted w. a customized ROM, but I really don't think that is important for the use of this app.
I'm currently using the latest developer version 0.00-13-7 http://code.google.com/p/csipsimple/downloads/list.
Note: If you go from the Market version to a developer version you need to do an uninstall and a new install.
Maybe you can find some issues on the CSipSimple developer site:

Update: after I retrieved my MJ password last night I thought to change it on the PAP2t as well. It worked like a charm. I still have the app on my EVO but I am not using it so I dont mess up the PAP2t. I attached a screenshot below to show you that my PAP2t registered and it is online now.arcadia2uk wrote:since my earlier posting there have been some updates.
