Magic Jack when using Remote Desktop

Post by magicjack37 »

I recently began using my magicjack and it works fine on my home computer. I work from home and log in to my work computer using a remote desktop connection. The problem is that for security reasons, when I log in to my work computer I can no longer access the internet through my home computer connection. All internet use must be through the work connection. The problem is that since MJ uses the internet connection on my home computer it stops working when I connect to my work computer. Is there a way I can have MJ work while I'm remotely connected to my work computer?
Thanks

Other than taking it with you to work I don't see how. BUT if there is a way I am sure others will chime in.

Of course if ATA wasn't having problems right now that would be a way..

Being as you're no longer able to access the 'Net through your home PC for security reasons while logged onto your work system, I don't see a way you can use your MJ at the same time unless, like Joe said, you had a MJ plugged into the work PC also, or by using an ATA.

Are you launching a VPN client to access your work computer? If that's the case, your VPN client does not allow for split tunneling, so that's why your magicJack isn't working. No workaround available. It's a security feature of the VPN to protect your company network from outside attacks.

Try and check the router connection for your work computer..
