Is there a problem between MJ and Qwest?

Post by azgalsal »

I live in Cottonwood, AZ, and Qwest is my DSL ISP. Starting yesterday, I cannot dial any Qwest phone numbers without getting a message "We're sorry your call cannot be completed as dialed". I was on Chat with MJ for a long time yesterday and they had me try all kinds of fixes, none of which worked. I received an email saying I would hear from them today. So far I have not heard from them, and the numbers are still not working. Is anyone familiar with this problem?

I have Qwest DSL (Colorado) and don't have any issues. I have found the most success with calls by dialing '1' in front of the 10 digit number I am calling.

Yes, I have called several cell numbers without a problem...not sure of all the carriers, but I know T-Mobile numbers are not a problem.

See my thread. Qwest is now owned by CenturyLink.

Hope this fixes your problem

1.) Create a google voice account

2.) Enter (register) your magicjack number into your google voice account.

3.) At https://www.google.com/voice/#inbox Enter the Quest number to call into upper left hand box in the "Place a call" menu.

4.) Your magicjack phone should ring so answer it. You should hear it ringing on the other end to the Quest number.

Magic Jack should only see the U.S. google voice number and as it is also an incoming call so all should be well. Reply if it works. Thanks.

Same issue

I live in UTah. I can call people that have different providers. viop phones comcast, mstar, veracity, cell numbers
All calls to qwest lines get the operator with area code and adding a 1. (female voice) We are sorry your call cannot be completed as dialed please check the number and dial again.

If i try calling a 7 digit number then a guy comes on saying In order to complete this call you must dial the area code and the number. thank you for using magicjack.

I noticed this on the 26th of may.

I live on the Oregon coast and our local landline provider is QWEST and have the same problem---can't call local QWEST numbers. I started noticing this perhaps two weeks ago----late May.

I hope a fix is in the works---

I happen to live in Buckeye, Az and I also have qwest which is now centurylink. I also have a landline with centurylink and I've called it before from my magicjack and the other way around and never ran into any probelms. Also my cousin has centurylink and he calls me all the time.
