Please: Expert advice is required b4 plugging the dongle!

Post by lousk »

After having used the MJ without its USB dongle for over 3 months, extracting its credentials, then using that on my iPhone along with Siphon apps. So now that this seems to be the thing of the past, at least for the time being for the obvious reason, I’m on the verge of plugging the damn thing back in my PC, and use it like it was intended, and since I still have 9 more months of service on my account before I toss it out of the windows finally. Probably I’ll be getting on the wagon with netTALK.
Any advice for me at this point… (pros and cons?) What’s really there left to regret!
Thank you for your inputs!

Use a rear USB port and do not use the short extension cord which came with the MJ.. If necessary you might need a POWERED USB hub.
In device manager be sure to check there is no power saving enabled in the USB ROOT HUB(S)..

Thank you bitstopjoe for your reply!

Any foreseeable resolution in the near future for the MJ credentials issue?

Not that I have seen, sorry.

One other thing to your first question. I always stop unecessary processes before installing anything. In MJs case be sure to turn off your Anti Virus but leave your Firewall active. I stopped all unecessary processes ( Ctl, Shift, Esc) prior to plugging in my MJ for the first time 2 plus years ago. Have not had any problems since day one...

Thanks!... it's great that you've mentioned that.

I was wondering, will I be needing to 'force' any MJ's update(s) since I have not had it plugged in the PC for such a long time?

ONLY if the "lucky you" update fails... IF it does or you have weird problems, go to the MJ web page and d/l the MJ removal tool. Run it, reboot and then the update process will run again on its own. You can also d/l the update from their site as well and run it manually if, for some reason, it will not run on it's own.
