People calling in---phone rings but dead

Post by davidwpenny »

My magicjack is working fine EXCEPT no one can call me and talk. The phone rings but when I pick it up, the phone is dead. Do I need to do something to connect us.

I am asking the forum this question because when I initially got mj, I couldn't get it to work at all. "Support" had me try several things including changing my computer configuration and uninstalling and reinstalling the software. "Accidently" found the problem on my own---I was using their extension usb cable---when I dropped it off, everything worked fine. WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY WOULD TELL ME TO DO WITH THIS "PROBLEM."

I'll save you the trouble of engaging the chat reps.

yes you have. but, I can say from my searching experience on here that it is damn near impossible sometimes to find what you are looking for. I understand if there is another thread on here right below the one you just posted about the same thing, so everyone here gets their panties in a twist, but the search on here leaves very little to be desired. someone suggested this in another thread.

can you somehow get that type of search to work on here?

I have never had a problem searching here. I guess I just enter the correct words. When I suggest a link to someone, how do you think I find it? Yep by going into search here and entering the jist of what they are asking. YES there are MANY MANY returns to that search, but usually one just needs to peruse the headings to find what you want.
The bigger problem is most first time posters here do not even make an attempt to try and find what they are asking. Hell they dont even peruse the headers. Sometimes there is a topic JUST BELOW what they are asking. They don't even make an effort. To those who try to search and then say they found nothing, I always try to help because at least they tried..

I wonder if we shouldn't rename the forum RTFM. :D

Some of us know what that means (Joe, Whiz, gash, nailgunner, etc.), and others don't. For those of you who don't know...well...do a SEARCH. It builds character to have to actually spend a little time looking for the answer.

I just renewed the old one Nugrl. I decided since it was working fine, there was no need to fix it. It sounds like the 4th Gen is working well for those who bought it.

BTW, I wasn't including you in my comments. It's obvious you're not in that "lazy" category.

I did manage to find a 4th Gen and replaced my old one with the new 4th gen, but, I don't think it is all that much better than my old one. Maybe its just me, who knows? I am beginning to wonder if all the problems I have alot with call quality have to do with my phones I use? not sure.
