What is the updated status of using MJ with an ATA?
I have being reading/searching as to the status of the use of MJ with an ATA? Is there anyone out there that is successfully using their MJ credentials with an ATA?
I'm fully aware of the issues surrounding the fact that MJ up to a few weeks ago, stop the use of its credentials with ATA, by implementing rotating password and/or MJproxy.

The New MJproxy! Merry Christmas!
~ Bah, humbug! ~
C'mon, guys, it's Christmas. Haven't you seen Frosty come back to life, as Jimmy Durante narrates, under the right conditions?
As soon as the new scheme is figured out, mjproxy will live again on my router, the ATA will register anew to MJ servers, and all will live happily ever after.
PS If this doesn't happen by April, when my MJ term ends, I'm taking my phone number and it's 'MJ, goodbye!' (Too little Christmas spirit by then.)

Here is the thing. Anything can be hacked but you need reason to want to hack it. Many of the people who originally hacked the magic jack and figure all the encryption and passwords out are no longer interested as their is no gain or they moved on to more stable services.
I for one have not bothered updating any of my MJ scripts or bothered plugging in any of the 40 jacks i have as their is no want any more. Why spend the time to do it, when there are more reliable services out their at reasonable prices, some even free.
I bet with in the next year there will be a select few that will know how to do it again but I would not hold your breath on it becoming public knowledge i it does.
Sorry had to rant there is my .2 cents
If you want to run your ata and you don't want to spend much check out some of these sites:
www.whistlephone.com
www.nettalk.com
www.voipmyway.com <-- yes a blatant plug
All good companies all have pros and all have cons, but they all give you the one thing you want *SIP*

Right I have nettalk and a few other solutions. I dont even use voip to make calls its really just a hobby for me. Magicjack is deffinatly on the back burrner for me. People are still intrested in this device and using it dongel less because its so cheap. Lot of call centersgenxweb wrote:Here is the thing. I did not renew my magicjack service near the end of 2010. I played with Whistlephone for a while, but the multi proxies made it a bother to set up on the ATA. people calling in sometimes had to do it four times before they connected to the proxy I was on. Not letting us use the ATA was the end for me. The dongle for me had issues, I was on a 2nd gen unit and I started to renew and then ask for a new dongle since mine "broke". However, I decided to do something different. I was sick of hearing that "beep" or "burp" or whatever you want to call it when talking with someone.
With the current release of PBX in a flash and incredible pbx v1.8, you can now set up a pbx that will call in and out through google voice transparently, no more call backs. My guess is the OBi110 Voice Service Bridge and Terminal Adapter does something similar.

MagicJack Hack
The MJ hack IMO is worthless to me in more then one way, I have 7 different services now and if i came up with a solution to the SIP Creds to be used in a ATA again is has NO gain to me in anyway. I don't NEED "He did it" i got that years ago with alot of programs etc, Im into it for the $ ONLY. And if ppl would pay OR offer me $5.00 each to give them there SIP info that works is a insult as $5.00 today i wipe my ass with, Now if you offered $25.00-$50.00 ea for the info now in 2011 that would interest me. Remember im into this for more then this hobby and for big $ not chump change plus alot in this hobby LQQK more for what they can get for free BUT not from me. And if you want to know i use MJ nothing today as my other "7" services and International is 100% flawless and most of the equipment im running thru my new overclocked AMD x6 Core and kix ass. Bottom line i make more $ then wasting my time with MJ SIP, Now that im making a Oppo 93 Reigon Free Board and get 90 bux ea no problem from 100's of people u can see WHY i don't bother for "5" dollars i throw at a bum in the street, Time and know how cost $ and sometimes not cheap, Now if someone wants to PAY like 3G and get the rights to sell it on there own to ALL that seem to want it then i'll consider it but for chump change i meaning ME at least will let it stay dead.

I think that im going to make the switch to Nettalk... But the only downside I can see, is they say you can only get a US phone number. I think that I will also keep my MJ to keep my Canadian number and just forward it to the Nettalk. I guess thats the only good thing about MJ, their call forwarding has never failed me at all...
How much is Nettalk? I understand there's going to be a new provider coming around that will have basically the pricing structure that MJ has, but will be BYOD.Kenny2469 wrote:I think that im going to make the switch to Nettalk... Maybe you're thinking of VoIPMyWay. It's more expensive than MJ but it is BYOD and the service is great. Check it out www.voipmyway.com

The believe the company is called Barouga. I understand that they're charging $30 for activation and $30 annually. They're going to be in the midwest from what i could see.oldtimercurt wrote:Maybe you're thinking of VoIPMyWay. It's more expensive than MJ but it is BYOD and the service is great.
